Okay, so I just finished writing my review of Pushing Daisies, I still have yet to watch Criminal Minds, but I have to try to read what else is going on in the world of TV, right ? Which ain’t easy either because for some weird reasons, I can’t have any pages of any websites to load in less than 15 seconds for the fastest ones like Google, which is a real PITA.
Anyways, the nominations for the 65th Golden Globe Awards have been announced, but right before we go into that : will the ceremony even air ? I mean sure, NBC is supposed to air it on January 13, 2008. But shall I remind you that there’s a strike going on ? Of course not. But this little fact might have big consequences regarding the awardsn because many people would not actually show up to get their awards, not just writers but producers and showrunners (but often are writers as well) as well as actors, given how they all supports the writers and have been seen outside on the picket line too.

As you may have heard, writers are on strike at the moment. They’ve been striking for a few weeks already, and sadly it doesn’t seem to be coming to a resolution soon. And here is yet another indication that studios aren’t really optimistic about it : CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves said he was “hopeful [but] not terribly optimistic” about the resumption of on-going talks, and so CBS is preparing itself a full schedule for midseason, strike-proof.
After having already announced their schedule going over January and February, they’re now considering the possibility of stealing shows from Showtime, owned by CBS Corporation as well, in order to get new content on the air. And amongst the series being considered for such a move is, of course, Dexter.
Why is that ? Simply because that the very show that established new records for ShowTime.
But this now brings the question : do we really want that ? I’m saying no!

Shows: Dexter, Weeds

As usual, Monday is a big TV night. Although tonight, it’s actually quite okay.
* At 8.00 CBS has a new episode of How I Met Your Mother, which for some unexplainable reason is not follow by a new episode of The Big Bang Theory (but a rerun, of the pilot I believe). You don’t get it ? Especially during November sweeps ? Well, I don’t either.
* At 8.00 NBC has a new Chuck, and once again cutie Rachel Bilson should be there, so watch out!
* At 9.00 there a new Heroes. I mention it, but I’m still unsure whether or not I will actually watch it, because as I said reviewing last week’s pile of crap, the show not only sucks but is doomed.
* At 10.00 there’s a new episode of Journeyman. Again a show I mention but I might not watch, cause it sucks. Okay, so it does, it really does, but this one I’ll watch, I can tell you that for sure already.
* At 10.00 don’t forget the season finale of Weeds on Showtime. I would watch but I still have two episodes waiting on my DVR to be honest… Later.

* At 8.00 there’s a new How I Met Your Mother on CBS. It’s a great & funny show, I recommend it.
* Then of course at the same time on NBC cutie Rachel Bilson makes her debut on Chuck…
* At 8.30 the comedy continues with a new episode of The Big Bang Theory - a show that may not look that good at first, but watching it makes one thing sure : it’s funny
* At 9.00 NBC has a new Heroes, and I hear we may finally discover what happened months ago, why Peter & his brother didn’t die, all of that.
* At 9.30 ABC has a new Samantha Who? - Probably the last chance for the show to make me laugh before I drop it
* At 10.00 there’s a new Journeyman, which may or may not be good, it’s hard to tell with that one
* Also note that at 10.00 on Showtime there’s a new episode of Weeds (S03E14)
No, I did not mention the new Prison Break at 8.00 on Fox, because this season is terrible and last week’s two-hours special was the most disappointing thing of a season that’s been nothig but a disappointment. So I’m done with the show. (So yeah, being such a TVoholic I might record it and fast forward through it later, but really, I’m done!)

I’m still watching Weeds. I am, as a matter of fact I just watched last week’s episode (S03E12) ! Now I’ll be honest, I enjoy watching that show every week (or whenever I find the time to actually watch it), but I feel like it’s getting a but ludicrous at times. Like the whole Nancy and Celia “argument” for instance, just felt odd to me. I didn’t expected it, I somehow thought Nancy knew about Celia and “her” house, and would pull a “you tell, I tell” sorta move. Instead, she pulled a “let me put a knife on your throat” move !
Now that was actually fun, but awkward too. But who cares, now Celia is part of the deal. And guess what, no one is trying to hide anything anymore ! Sure, move everything and & exchange money on front of the kid, that same one who constantly threatens her mother and calls social services on her. Yeah, I don’t see why they should try to keep it low, it’s not as if they were dealing drugs or something here…
By the way, since when is Marvin back in the game ? Was he just giving a hand, somehow, or what ? Call me stupid, but I thought the guy was out of the picture for a while now. And we didn’t saw him for a while, so it made sense. Besides, if he’s still around, and Nancy works for him, then he’s the one to call when there’s trouble and he has to find a new place to grow, not her. No?
But despite that or other little things, I do enjoy the show on a regular basis. And I’m not alone there, as this third season does even better than the last one, so it only makes sense that Showtime did order a fourth season. They did, 13 episodes for a season to air next summer - that is, of course, unless the strike last for way too long…

Shows: Weeds
In Series: Weeds Season 3
By fred | October 22, 2007
So I’ve been watching a few half-hour series this week-end. Nothing new, just part of my effort to clean my DVR. And I find myself quite disappointed by pretty much all the shows I’ve watched.
First it was Aliens in America, the latest sitcom from The CW. I was pretty optimistic about this one after the pilot, because despite a few flaws like any new series, I thought it had some potential. But the voice over thing never went away, and I’m not such a fan, but the humor based on Raja being a Muslim isn’t as provocative or funny as it used to be, but some situations are just plain dumb, and highly predictable, but the role of the father it still very odd, ever since the first pilot (before the recasting) I felt like this character was not fitting in, he wasn’t like a member of the family, and the situations or jokes associated to him were not funny, and not even in the tone of the show.
Nothing of that changed, and I simply don’t enjoy watching it at all. Although there was one pretty good/funny line, from Raja himself : “I have never lied before, and I lost all sense of scale, and then I kept on going and going, in the vain hope that I would stumble upon that one lie, that would make sense of all the others - but I never did.”

Summer television is now pretty much over, as summer shows are off and (new) shows returns, so I think we should all take a moment to celebrate summer television.
Because this summer, while the big networks might have been boring, we might thank God for cable. We had plenty of reasons to enjoy TV with great shows, funny, thrilling, great acting and high writing quality.
While I personally did not get into Mad Men that much, plenty are crazy about the show. Of course, Psych was a fresh comedy that made me laugh all the way, South Park was to die for as always, Weeds is back and despite some shitty mistakes (army plot), it’s still an wonderful show.
Not to forget the awesome Damages, which deserves to get some Emmy next year, shows I don’t watch as The Closer, Big Love, and so much more. Of course, not to forget The 4400, of which I’ll see the finale very soon!
Usually summer TV might be a little dead, but Showtime, FX, USA, HBO and all those cable networks did a great job, making watching TV worthwhile even during summer, and it was awesome.
So a big thanks to everyone involved, and I’ll be more than happy to see next again next summer!

(S03E05) Drugs are usually considered a “bad thing”, I mean, they’re illegal and all. But when Weeds appeared on Showtime a few years ago, and while never implying that smoking pot was a good thing to do, or cool or whatever, they gave drugs - or pot at least - a “lighter touch”. Because you had this little family, and the mother was raising her children and trying to figure everything out on her own (husband passed away), and in order to do so she was selling weeds.
It wasn’t a drama, more a comedy. A satiristic vision of the good looking place of Agrestic, where every little boxes looks the same, nice and clean. Because behind the surface, not everything was as clean and pretty as it seems : couples were fighting and falling apart, kids were unhappy, and everyone seemed to like and want the product of the new neighborhood pot dealer, single-mom Nancy, up to city councilman Doug Wilson.

(S03E04) I was one week late, so I started by watching this “old” episode first. So I watched it, and here’s a quick review of it before I dive into the latest episode in date.
Last time I talked about changes, and how it was great to see a show were some would actually take place. Funny thing this time, we had yet another change, but it wasn’t one like the others.
