Each year the International Press Academy has its own awards, as everybody else, and winners of the 2008 Satellite Awards have been announced this Sunday.
The thing to notice this year isn’t that Showtime is doing pretty well, winner of the best drama with Dexter and best comedy or musical with State Of The Union, although that’s not nothing, but that the other winners are found on AMC (Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad) or HBO (Anna Paquin, True Blood)… but not the main networks. Last year Pushing Daisies (ABC), Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) et Ugly Betty (ABC) had won, and this year while ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC all had at least one nominations, they all got nothing.

I usually love to trash the Emmys because whether you look at the winners of even the nominations, you just wonder if those people even watch TV. And it used to be that at least the Golden Globes got things a little better, right? Because then clearly this has changed, they got it all wrong, it’s almost insulting actually.
Unlike the Emmys, The Globes cover the calendar year, not the TV season, meaning that it includes the beginning of the year when there was not much TV going on, writers’ strike and all. But there was at least one thing on the air, and that thing was simply the best show of one of the greatest TV show, I of course am talking about Lost.

The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees have been announced, and for the most part there’s really not much to say, except that sometimes it feels even more wrong than the Emmys, which is saying a lot considering. Favorite dramas only include the major hits (CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, House) completely missing even the fantastic Lost and its mind-blowing season, not nominated at all.
Just like for comedies are missing the most hilarious sitcoms on the air — that’s right, no mention of 30 Rock, The Office or How I Met Your Mother ! How is that even possible ??

Alright, so time to talk about the Emmy and who actually won I guess.
But first off, if you missed it or just because it’s so great you can never have enough of it, make sure to watch (again) Ricky Gervais & Steve Carell at the Emmys.
Right then, so let’s not waste any time and dive into it (in italic were my own votes, in bold are the winners) :

(S04E13) So we’re finally there, the end of the road for Weeds, and Nancy. Well, at least for the being being that is, of course the show isn’t over yet, but this new season is. This was the season of changes for Weeds, moving away from Agrestic, leaving Little Boxes behind and turning to new (but not better) things.
I wasn’t sure it would work, I had serious doubts, and now that we reached the end of the tunnel, I can say without a doubt that not only was the other side not worth the trouble of getting there, but the journey wasn’t even fun either. In other words, this season finale sucked, but so did the show this season, so it’s not like we expected anything else.

* Another “slow” Monday before things get serious. No really, this might look like a busy night for now, and it is the busiest night of the week, but wait to see what Mondays will look like next week, once will be back the How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theories and other Heroes, among many others…
* For today, at 8.00 we have of course a new episode of Gossip Girl on The CW
* Facing a new Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox
* Then at 9.00 on Fox comes a new episode of Prison Break
* While on The CW it’s time for a new One Tree Hill
* 9.00 is also when The Closer is on TNT
* At 10.00 Showtime has the season finale of Weeds - but don’t worry, Nancy will be fine, as always (and the show has already been renewed)…
* While on TNT comes a new episode of Raising The Bar

(S04E12) We’re getting pretty close to the end, not that it would mean much for Nancy anyways, because she always gets out of the worst situations ever without even a little scratch. Before this season started, I remembered thinking how I wasn’t sure about the latest changes to be initiated, I wasn’t sure that letting Conrad & co go was a smart move, I wasn’t pleased to forget about Little Boxes, and the move to a new place didn’t really strike me as a way to reinvent the show.
If there’s one thing this season proved is that I was right : this was not the season where the show would reinvent itself, that there wasn’t going to be a fresh start. As a matter of fact, more and more Weeds is forgetting about its comedy roots to take a much darker turn, hoping that drama would save them I guess.
But it does not.

* Happy Monday everyone! Yes, Mondays are back. Not fully, there’s still lots missing, and yet we have enough to be busy already… isn’t it amazing?
* At 8.00 on Fox things start with a bang (I would assume) as the season premiere of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles kicks in !
* Meanwhile on The CW things are more “civilized” with a new episode of Gossip Girl
* At 9.00 on Fox we have another episode of the brand new The A-Team Prison Break
* On The CW it’s a new episode of One Tree Hill
* And still at 9.00 but on TNT it’s a new The Closer
* Then at 10.00 there’s finally a new episode of Weeds on Showtime, though I’ll be honest in saying I didn’t miss the show at all…
*Finally on TNT there’s a new Raising The Bar. Question is, will it be any better than last week?

(S04E11) We’re getting closer and closer to the end of this latest season of Weeds, the one that was meant to be a fresh new start for everyone, moving away from Little Boxes to a place where they wouldn’t redo the old mistakes they did in the past, once or twice (or more). But of course, as could be expected from Nancy, that was only to do newer, bigger mistakes that could have been avoided as well, but she “decided” otherwise.
And slowly, things are starting to get back at her. Because you can’t go around and not care about anyone, not your friends, not your kids, not your employees, not your family, no one but your latest lover, and then expect them to still deal with you as if you hadn’t changed. Case in point, Shane had been trying to get his mother to behave in both a more respectful of the law way, and also to be more of a mother to him.
