Seriously, I don’t like it, except maybe for the Pushing Daisies part it just looks (and sounds) pretty awful, that song is annoying as Hell to me, and is it me or is there some ongoing annoying sound all he way through, like the ship is drowning or something…
The ceremony airs tonight at 8.00 on Fox, but it has already been shot and the winners are already known. Of course, if you haven’t heard about it yet and wishes to stay in the dark until the show, for some reason, feel free to do so - I won’t post any results before the jump.
I’ll just remind you that as far as nominations went, despite what Nielsen may say Gossip Girl was a clear winner. If according to ratings the show isn’t a hit, it surely is when it comes to what teens actually love, never mind whether or not they can relate to the story as some recently complained about…
What to know if GG was the hit the TCA nominations announced it would be, or if Nielsen was right all along ? Wait to find out tonight on Fox, or just click right now to read the read of this post…
At this point we have the fall schedule and premiere dates for all the main networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and The CW) so now the only thing that remains is for you to search for the information concerning the shows you love/are interested in.
To make things easier for everyone, I took back the complete new fall schedule compiled before premiere dates were known and updated it. You will find here the complete 2008 fall schedule day by day, with all shows on their slot with their premiere dates included. That way you can see how [insert day here] will be, try to see what you’ll watch and what you’ll have set on your DVR, and when things will be back.
And because sometimes you want to know things the other way around, know what will be on at a given time, I’ve also included the list of all premieres dates ordered by date. With all that, hopefully you should have all the information you need to get ready for next fall.
There’s been much talk and then some about those nominations, as the top10 finalists lists have been made public, or find a way to the public eyes. But now speculations are over as the official nominees were announced by Patrick Harris and Kristen Chenoweth - both nominated by the way.
What to say ? Not many surprises, even with things that went wrong and the misses here and there. Not much love for The Wire, I think more was expected, but it’s a general trend : cable networks are kicking in with style (AMC, FX, etc) and HBO is really lacking some great hits nowadays. Sure, The Wire is still around, and Entourage hasn’t been forgotten despite being away for so long, plus the “experimental” In Treatment was noticed, but it’s not like they had a The Sopranos or Sex And The City anyways…
ABC just released their fall premiere dates, and if on some networks new episodes kick in as soon as early September, on ABC you’ll have to wait a bit longer to get your latest fix. Boston Legal is the first script series to come back, and that won’t happen until September 22 !!
Yep, that late. Could be worse though, imagine you were a fan of, say, Pushing Daisies or Dirty Sexy Money, then September won’t be easy on you, because they’re not returning to the air before October ! Though they do kick on on the first day of the month, if that’s any comfort… If you’re waiting for Samantha Who? or Eli Stone on the other hand, you don’t even get such comfort, as they will return respectively on October 6, and October 14 !
ABC new series are Opportunity Knocks, premiering on September 23; and Life On Mars, coming in much later, on October 9.
Interested in a full listing, followed by a complete listing of all shows premiere dates (ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC) ? It’s all after the jump !
Always more lists of candidates for a nominations for an Emmy are being released, one way or another, and so here’s the latest. Starting with guest actress in comedy series, and - Thank God! - no sign of Spears or the likes. Surprisingly though, the delightful Sarah Chalke isn’t on the list, which I believe is a real shame. It’s not new, How I Met Your Mother always gets snubbed, sadly.
Funny thing though : Sarah Silverman is already on the list for Best Comedy Actress, and she’s also here for her guest appearance on Monk. I didn’t find her performance here to be that good, but then again I find Monk to be really not a very good show…
This season 30 Rock proved to be quite good when it comes to guest stars, and it shows : on the list of 11 possible nominees, we find no less than 3 names from the sitcom, same as Desperate Housewives, except that - at least according to me - the ones from 30 Rock should be amongst the five official nominees.
Some Emmy Finalists have already been made public, and now a few more are out. The list of semi-finalists for Best Comedy Actress and Best Supporting Drama Actor. Once again those lists aren’t for official nominees, people need to vote so we can get the official five nominees; still let’s talk about it!
Many are commenting on how Teri Hatcher is missing from the list, while Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria Parker are all on the list. I’ll just say that, sure, it looks like a snub especially on the semi-finalists list, but where does it say all Desperate Housewives actresses have to be all nominated ? I don’t hear people complain that much when only a couple of actors or actresses from Lost are nominated, and not the others.
The Emmys have released the lists of top 10 finalists for best comedy and best drama series. It’s not the nominations, just a “pre-selection”, but there’s already some (big) surprises, like the inclusion of Family Guy in the best comedy series — never an animated series made it there, but this year creator-producer Seth MacFarlane opted to have his show run for the best comedy series, while submitting a special episode (Blue Harvest) to the animated category — as well as some misses.
I mean I really wanted to see Life on the Best Drama list, and I can’t believe that once again How I Met Your Mother isn’t on the Best Comedy list ! You won’t also find Desperate Housewives (but that makes sense to me), My Name Is Earl, Scrubs, or Heroes but it is to include the one that’d have been surprising this year.
It seems there’s a new trend lately, that makes for scripted shows, usually comedies, to feel the need to hire some “tabloid cover girl” and turn them into their special guest-star, like this was going to be such a cool move and a great boost in ratings. You know what, I was never for it anyways, but I’m getting really sick of it now !
I mean sure, Britney Spears did boost the ratings a bit for How I Met Your Mother, she was also really bad and I’m guessing about 99.9% of the people who tuned in for this episode while not usually watching the show, only did so to see how much of a train wreck she was, so they could make more fun of her. Also, I guess at least 99.9% of them will NOT be coming back to the show, because they only cared about making fun of a train wreck.
A new edition of the Teen Choice Awards is coming, and the nominations have been announced. The show, hosted this year by “teen sensation” Miley Cyrus will take place on August 4, 2008 and air on Fox at 8.00
The lead this year is without a doubt The CW’s new show Gossip Girl, confirming that while it may not do wonders in ratings (according to Nielsen at least), the show is extremely popular among its target audience, at the very least. The press release indicates no less than 14 nominations for the show (though I only counted 12, but who cares, right?)
I won’t list the entire list of nominees, focusing only of what we care about here : TV stuff. And while I know that this is the TCA, so I didn’t really expect Life to be nominated for best drama (though it deserves every possible award), some choice are a bit off nevertheless…
