Fox Announces Midseason Schedule, Moving Dollhouse To Fridays

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | November 7, 2008

FoxFox’s plans for 2009 have now made public, and there are two things that are really worth nothing, two changes that took place compared to the original plans the Network had, two changes actually quite linked to each other : Originally, Bones was set to move on Fridays.

No really, it was, those idiots at Fox keep moving it around and treat the show like it wasn’t the little awesome thing it is, pulling 10 million viewers each week. And maybe that’s why they change their minds, when realizing that even without House near-by, the show was still a hit. That’s for the good news, now the bad news comes from who’s taking over that infamous death slot.

No other than Joss Whedon’s latest sci-fi creation, Dollhouse, is set to air on Fridays, premiering Friday, January 13th. No really. I’ll give you a minute to scream away as those horrible flashbacks and memories of Firefly come to mind…

Wednesday’s Numbers [10.08.2008]

NumbersThe Eye was a clear winner last night, being the only network to average over 10 million viewers with a shinny 13.09 million, while the closest was Fox and only 7.40 million ! Same thing on the demo, where CBS scored a 3.6 while Fox came next with 2.4

In other words, things are going well for CBS. New Adventures Of Old Christine scored a season high with 7.64 million viewers (about 700 000 more viewers than a week ago), though it stayed about the same on the demo. Lead-out Gary Unmarried was also doing better, 400 000 more viewers than last week for a total of 7.43 million viewers, and still performing better than its lead-in on the demo (2.3 vs 2.1)

* On Fox we have of course a new episode of Bones

* While NBC has a new Knight Rider

* On CBS there’s a new episode of New Adventures Of Old Christine

* Followed at 8.30 by a new Gary Unmarried

* But of course you don’t want to miss Comedy Central and the return of the bad boys of Colorado, as season 12 of South Park returns !

* At 10.30 it’s another return, the one of The Sarah Silverman Program. I’ve heard some calling it season 3, but I think it actually is season 2 still, which like South Park (and helped by the writers’ strike) had a mid-season break. Others do call it season 2B, but the important thing is it will be funny :

Wednesday’s Numbers [10.01.2008]

NumbersLast night was a night of season premiere for ABC, all three of their Wednesday series returning for their sophomore seasons, and sadly it didn’t get the results they were hoping for, I’m guessing. CBS was a clear winner of the night, only network to average over 10 million viewers with 12.03 million. The Eye was also first on the demo with 3.3 leaving all other networks quite close, from 2.6 (ABC) to 2.4 (Fox)

At 8.00 things started well for Fox as the latest installment of Bones was up 200 000 viewers since last week, winning the slot with 9.82 million viewers and a 3.2 on the demo. Things are going well for this very nice and underrated show. Now for the most depressing news of the night, not only was Pushing Daisies not doing so well, but it got beaten by Knight Rider !!

Wednesday’s Numbers [09.24.2008]

NumbersNote that due to President Bush’s 15-minute address to the nation at 9.00 all individual program results are approximate and subject to change.

Good night for CBS last night, winner both in total viewers (12.48 million) and on the demo (3.5), thanks to the return of their cop-drama Criminal Minds and CSI: New-York, which both did very well, the later being the most-watched program of the night on the demo, the former being a very close second.

At 8.00 Bones was pretty stable (9.61 million viewers, 3.1 on the demo), barely loosing viewers compared to last week despite being opposed to Dancing With The Stars (15.57 million viewers). Meanwhile on NBC was the series premiere of Knight Rider, and the curiosity effect isn’t really there anymore after that bad movie back in February (which had 12.7 million viewers at the time), so many people didn’t bother, rightly so. Only 7.30 million viewers for a series premiere is a pretty bad result, and the 2.4 on the demo isn’t any more encouraging.

Tonight On TV

* Things are calming down a notch this Wednesday, which I’m sure might allow some to make room on their DVR… or still fill them some more.

* At 8.00 of course all eyes are on Fox for a new episode of the underrated Bones

* And there’s some competition now, first on NBC with the series premiere of Knight Rider

* On CBS it’s the new comedy night with first the season premiere of New Adventures Of Old Christine

* Followed at 8.30 by the series premiere on Gary Unmarried. I’m curious, I’ll (probably) watch, but I fear it’s bad…

* At 9.00 on CBS we will finally found out whose car it was that blew up, in the season premiere of Criminal Minds

* While on Fox there’s a new Til Death

* Followed at 9.30 by a new Do Not Disturb - because apparently the fact that it’s bad television (or that nobody watches) isn’t enough to pull the plug…

* At 10.00 CBS has the season premiere of CSI: New York

* On NBC its the season premiere of Lipstick Jungle

* And FX has a new episode of Sons Of Anarchy

Wednesday’s Numbers [09.17.2008]

NumbersLast night there wasn’t much on, and as far as I’m concerned it was down to one single show : Bones. As good as the show may be and do, it wasn’t enough to keep Fox on the first place last night, because with a two-hour block of America’s Got Talent NBC won the night, both in viewers and on the demo.

Still, Bones managed to gain 800 000 viewers from last week, with 9.7 million viewers, and performed quite well on the demo winning the slot with a 3.2 Everything’s fine for the little under-rated Fox show. The same can’t be said for either Til Death, loosing 1.3 million viewers from last week down to 5.1 million, and falling dramatically on the demo to 1.9 (from lead-in’s 3.2!)
