Alright, so time to talk about the Emmy and who actually won I guess.
But first off, if you missed it or just because it’s so great you can never have enough of it, make sure to watch (again) Ricky Gervais & Steve Carell at the Emmys.
Right then, so let’s not waste any time and dive into it (in italic were my own votes, in bold are the winners) :

Yesterday the Television Critics Association revealed their picks for outstanding achievements this year on television. As always the TCA Awards are known to give out awards to shows usually “snubbed” by other wards like the Emmys, as the critics tend to be more inclined to reward quality shows from cable even if they aren’t a popular hit.
I’m not sure if this is still true this year though, because there wasn’t really any surprise coming from the TCA Awards, which rewarded Mad Men a lot, the new series from AMC which just happens to have received no less than 16 Emmy nominations, a pretty amazing performance which would already be fantastic for either a new series, or a series from AMC.
Now, maybe it’s because I personally do not love Mad Men that much, but while I have no problem to recognize that there’s quality on that show and it does deserve many praises, I’m actually really getting a bit sick of it now.

There’s been much talk and then some about those nominations, as the top10 finalists lists have been made public, or find a way to the public eyes. But now speculations are over as the official nominees were announced by Patrick Harris and Kristen Chenoweth - both nominated by the way.
What to say ? Not many surprises, even with things that went wrong and the misses here and there. Not much love for The Wire, I think more was expected, but it’s a general trend : cable networks are kicking in with style (AMC, FX, etc) and HBO is really lacking some great hits nowadays. Sure, The Wire is still around, and Entourage hasn’t been forgotten despite being away for so long, plus the “experimental” In Treatment was noticed, but it’s not like they had a The Sopranos or Sex And The City anyways…

The Emmys have released the lists of top 10 finalists for best comedy and best drama series. It’s not the nominations, just a “pre-selection”, but there’s already some (big) surprises, like the inclusion of Family Guy in the best comedy series — never an animated series made it there, but this year creator-producer Seth MacFarlane opted to have his show run for the best comedy series, while submitting a special episode (Blue Harvest) to the animated category — as well as some misses.
I mean I really wanted to see Life on the Best Drama list, and I can’t believe that once again How I Met Your Mother isn’t on the Best Comedy list ! You won’t also find Desperate Housewives (but that makes sense to me), My Name Is Earl, Scrubs, or Heroes but it is to include the one that’d have been surprising this year.

Now that the season is over, everyone will be tempted to have a look back at everything that happened and how things worked out. And it was a pretty special season, especially with that big writers’ strike right in the middle changing a lot of things.
As the Emmy are coming up, The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd brought together five of television’s most stalwart showrunners and had them to talk about a bit of everything, from their strike to FCC fines to the rise of reality TV and more. And just as their shows are must-see TV, this is a must-read piece. I can’t recommend you enough to read this, especially if you happen to love some or all of their shows.
And, to make it easier you can start by watching a little video of their chat to get in the mood. Around the table were found Bryan Fuller (ABC’s Pushing Daisies), David Shore (Fox’s House), Damon Lindelof (ABC’s Lost), Matthew Weiner (AMC’s Mad Men) and Craig Thomas (CBS’ How I Met Your Mother).

Because it’s not all about the Emmy’s, and because unlike with the Emmys we can hope here people actually watch TV, it’s always interesting to have a look at how the Television Critics Association Awards go. Nominees have been announced, and the closing chapter of The Wire and the first season of AMC newcomer Mad Men led the nominees.
Each show earned four nominations, more than any other program, and both are up for the prestigious Program Of The Year award. In the end HBO was the lead network with 10 nominations, closely followed by PBS with nine, NBC with eight, ABC and AMC five. Cable networks are doing pretty well, taking five of the six nomination for Program Of The Year and four of the five for New Program.

* We’re in for another week made of series premieres and finale, starting today.
* First, at 8.00 on Fox we have a new The Simpsons followed by a new King Of The Hill
* While The CW has a new Everybody Hates Chris and Aliens In America at 8.30
* At 9.300 HBO sees another of their big hit going away, as The Wire has its 95-minute series finale !
* At 9.30 comes on a new episode of Fox new sitcom Unhitched, and hopefully it’ll get even crazier (and funnier) than last week’s promising pilot…
* And finally, at 10.00 on AMC, Breaking Bad is leaving already (due to the writers’ strike), although it’d better be nothing more than a season finale !

* A new week is starting, and it will see a few shows premiering, starting tonight, as well as some saying goodbye, starting tomorrow.
* At 8.00 Fox has is comedy night back, stating with a new episode of The Simpsons, followed by a new King Of The Hill
* Meanwhile The CW welcomes its sitcoms as well, with new Everybody Hates Chris and Aliens In America on. Too bad it’s not good, or funny…
* At 9.00 things are still going on Fox, with a new Family Guy
* An on HBO there’s a new The Wire
* At 9.30 it looks like the comedy stops on Fox, as new sitcom Unhitched premieres. No, I haven’t seen it yet, and I will watch it, but the few clips I’ve seen of it were terrible, really really bad. And so not funny. Videos after the jump.
* Thank God the night is saved anyway, because at 10.00 AMC has a new Breaking Bad !

* We’re finally here, Sunday, February 24th. We’re here, and the strike is over. Meaning that ABC can be happy, and have The Oscars on as usual, kind of. It starts at 8.00 with the Red Carpet, and around 8.30 for the ceremony. It will last for a few hours, and we’re all very curious to find out how Jon Stewart is going to manage it…
* Meanwhile all other networks go reruns and like, not that they’d have a lot to put on the air anyways.
* Still, at 9.00 HBO has a new episode of The Wire
* And at 10.00 comes the new & pretty awesome AMC series, Breaking Bad. That one is a must-see!
