The main event last night was obviously the American Music Awards return of Jack Bauer, and overall it’s a success for Fox ! Sure, if the net won the night it was also thanks to a little football overrun with 17.86 million viewers (6.5 on the demo) at 7.00, but that doesn’t mean Jack failed to come back in great shape — rating-wise at least.
Despite being off the air for a year and a half, 24 scored a very nice 12.60 million viewers and 4.3 on the demo during its first half hour, and overall averaged 12.04 million viewers (4.0 on the demo). While that’s below last season average (13 million, 5.0 on the demo) that remains much better that said season finale (10.2 million, 3.7 on the demo), and needless to say once the show is actually back, it should be doing very well — especially with House as lead-in.

* Of course, tonight is all about Jack Bauer. It’s not before January 11th that his new day will begin, but it’s been way too long since we last heard of him, so tonight he’s finally back will a little prelude in a two-hour TV movie. Let’s hope things will be better than last season… for us that is, of course.
* At 8.00 on ABC it’s a special night with the American Music Awards
* And of course, Fox has the famous 24: Redemption
* While on Showtime there’s a new Brotherhood
* At 9.00 on CBS there’s a new Cold Case
* While HBO has the season finale of True Blood
* And Showtime a new episode of Dexter

* On HBO it’s another season finale, the one of Entourage

Last night CBS had another Football overrun at 7.00 resulting in the entire line-up delayed by half an hour. With that boost The Eye was the most-watched network with 16.59 million viewers, but the demo was won by NBC (5.8) thanks to a night of football, the only thing that still does well on NBC.
At 8.00 while CBS had the overrun did wonder in its favor and the Football performed high as well on NBC, the comedy night on Fox wasn’t really affected : The Simpsons were up 300 000 viewers with 8.52 million viewers and 3.9 on the demo, leading into King Of The Hill up 200 000 viewers, with 7.04 million viewers and 3.2 on the demo.

Last night was won by football, making CBS winner in viewers (14.60 million) thanks to an approximate half-hour football overrun a 7.00 (with about 24.20 million viewers and a 7.3 on the demo), while NBC won the demo (4.9) with their night dedicated to football, (one of?) the only thing allowing the Peacock to win something.
At 8.00 and after a special Halloween last week, things were back to normal on Fox, The Simpsons down to a more regular 8.16 million viewers and 3.9 on the demo - slight up compared to two weeks ago, leading into King Of The Hill with 6.79 million viewers and 3.3 on the demo, actually down 600 000 viewers compared to two weeks ago.

Last was one as you don’t see often these days : thanks to its Sunday Night Football NBC managed to be the most-watched network of the night, coming close second to Fox on the demo (4.5 vs 4.9), all that while being the less watched network, not counting The CW of course. Because Fox still had 10.74 million viewers, while The CW couldn’t get one (0.75 million).
On Fox The Simpsons had a season high for their Treehouse of Horror with 12.48 million viewers and no less than a 6.2 on the demo ! The Simpsons was the number 1 program of the night on the demo (yes, beating Football and Desperate Housewives), now when was the last time the show performed that good ?? And quite frankly, this is absolutely not deserved one bit, that episode was a real bore and not funny once…

Last night was won by Fox thanks to the World Series, while NBC tanked pretty good trying to air a movie, which never really works these days. Not much to say about the programs at 8.00 if only that on The CW and despite a pretty strong competition (14.95 million viewers (5.0 on the demo) for Fox, and 12.15 million viewers (3.9 on the demo) on ABC) Valentine managed to get 150 000 more viewers, though 0.85 million viewers and 0.3 on the demo is still a failure.
At 9.00 things were even worse for Easy Money, losing viewers with 0.67 million viewers and a 0.2 on the demo. Meanwhile on ABC, Desperate Housewives was the most-watched program of the night with 15.21 million viewers and 5.7 on the demo, while Cold Case managed to get a season high with over one million more viewers, and 12.00 million viewers watching last night (2.8 on the demo).
