USA full of crap…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 20, 2007

USASo after we learned the The 4400 was canceled, along with another series on USA, Dead Zone, Jeff Wachtel, USA network programming chief, had this to say : “We wish we could keep all our great shows alive forever. But we feel we need to give some of our new shows a platform to grow, and it’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to two shows that had a great run and helped create the resurgence of original programming on our network and on all of cable.

Yeah, right.

That’s absolute BS, and the way I see it it’s a sign of total disrespect towards the series, their fans and the people working on them. I mean you cannot say those were great series that did do good, and then just cancel them like that.

The 4400 canceled !!!

The 4400Wow, this I didn’t expect. I knew the USA’s series The 4400 still hadn’t been renewed for another season, despite last season’s finale being a few months old now already, but I really wanted to believe that there was going to be another season, because we needed at least one more season.

Yes, I like the show, I think it’s a good one, and not only that but also the last episode was absolutely not a series finale, I mean we haven’t had any answers about anything ! All the mysteries are still strong as ever, and so many stories are on hold as well, there hasn’t been no resolution whatsoever. Come on, USA, you can’t let us hanging like that !

Well, I’m afraid they will. They did, in fact.

The 4400: The Great Leap Forward

The 4400(S04E13) Well well well… this was the last one. I just watched the season finale of The 4400, and I have a few things to say. I think overall and despite a few complaints along the way, this season was a pretty good one.

Things happened, story moved on, there were lots of good things. And this very last episode, well, I don’t want to spoil it before the jump but I can’t hold it anymore…

Let’s have a moment for the end of summer TV

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | September 17, 2007

Summer television is now pretty much over, as summer shows are off and (new) shows returns, so I think we should all take a moment to celebrate summer television.

Because this summer, while the big networks might have been boring, we might thank God for cable. We had plenty of reasons to enjoy TV with great shows, funny, thrilling, great acting and high writing quality.

While I personally did not get into Mad Men that much, plenty are crazy about the show. Of course, Psych was a fresh comedy that made me laugh all the way, South Park was to die for as always, Weeds is back and despite some shitty mistakes (army plot), it’s still an wonderful show.

Not to forget the awesome Damages, which deserves to get some Emmy next year, shows I don’t watch as The Closer, Big Love, and so much more. Of course, not to forget The 4400, of which I’ll see the finale very soon!

Usually summer TV might be a little dead, but Showtime, FX, USA, HBO and all those cable networks did a great job, making watching TV worthwhile even during summer, and it was awesome.

So a big thanks to everyone involved, and I’ll be more than happy to see next again next summer!

The 4400: Tiny Machines

The 4400(S04E12) Well well… the season is almost over, next week is the finale, and I can’t wait to be there. I really can’t, and even more hope that it will be great, that maybe things will be answered, and that at least things, big things, will happen.

Because while the feeling I have about this season so far is pretty good, and it was good season of The 4400, despite a start not of the best. But lately, the word that comes to mind is “filler”. For a few episodes now things are, slowly, moving in to position. Slowly, it’s getting there, people are getting ready. Slowly.

The 4400: Ghost In The Machine

The 4400(S04E11) This is something I had completely forgotten about, and just remembered as I watch this episode : on The 4400, seasons are “only” 14 episodes long. This means that yes, after this one we only have two episodes remaining and the season is over. That won’t be long, and it actually showed on this episode.

There was two main indications of this fact, the first is that we had a glimpse at many stories, all getting to the place they need to be for a big explosive finale ; and the second is that this episode felt somewhat like a filler, not much happened.
Still, it wasn’t a bad episode, but if you were expecting any (major) development story-wise, or character-wise, if you were expecting some answers, then you must have been disappointed.

The 4400: One of Us

The 4400(S04E10) So I wasn’t much pleased by last episode, which to me hugely felt like some sort of a filler. Don’t get me wrong though, it wasn’t a bad episode, but it really wasn’t the best of what the show could do.

Needless to say I wanted to get more from this new one, and I’d say that I got half what I wanted. It’s not that it was a filler, but the whole story about Isabelle still feels filler-ish to me, including in this episode.

But that wasn’t all that happened this time, and everything else was all you could want but, filler.

The 4400: Daddy’s Little Girl

The 4400(S04E09) This was a pretty unique of The 4400, and in some ways you could see some similarities between this one and the one from last week. In some ways, or at first only, because the two episodes were not quite the same not will they have the same impact of the show, despite both dealing with the mail plot of the show while not actually being right there.

And not to spoil anything right now, I will still say that even if it did respond to a few remarks or criticisms I had formulated in the past, while last week’s episode was pretty great, this one on the other hand, was not.

The 4400: No Exit

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | August 7, 2007

The 4400(S04E08) So we continue with another episode that doesn’t involve a new “extra crispies”, or even a new 4400, but deals with the main story of the show. Unlike previous ones the lack of introduction of new character wasn’t the only difference : this episode could feel as one where “not much” happened, overall.

But don’t let appearance fool you, that episode dealt was dead on on the main plot of the show, and made things moved. It might not have occurred during this episode itself, but it was far from a “filler” episode.

Dead people are dead, but come back

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | August 2, 2007

24You know how sometimes on a TV show, someone you thought dead will come back? Depending on the show, it can totally happen, sometimes you even expect it. No one would find it odd on Sci-Fi shows and such.

When you see the father of the Winchesters’ boys in Supernatural come back, it makes sense. And everyone can knows being dead doesn’t stop you from being seen on Lost, one way or another.

But recently, pure drama like 24 or CSI: Miami have been going to this new “trend” of bringing back characters that were dead, really dead.
