(S08E18) I don’t care about the rumors and whatnot, this was the end of it. Scrubs was a very good series, I’ve enjoyed it for eight years, and as much as I love it I really feel this should be the series finale, there shouldn’t be anything after this episode, don’t turn this into a Prison Break. And this is especially true after this episode we just got, that was meant as, and worked perfectly, as a series finale.
But it was done, of course, in pure Scrubs fashion. Meaning that while of course this was a very special day, because the show has always (for the most part) been about and from JD’s point of view, and it was his last day at Sacred Heart. It was special, but not so special that the rest of the world would stop of course, because every time you leave your job, even if you had a great time there and was loved by many friends, there’s still work to be done, nothing stops, especially not in an hospital.

(S08E17) Like you probably have, I have heard about all those rumors and speculations that this season could not be the last one after all, that ABC could be thinking of renewing the show for yet another season, but I chose to ignore all of that, refusing to believe they would do it. I really don’t think they should, because as much as I love the show, the time has come.
Last season was already supposed to be the last one, but with the writers’ strike and NBC being NBC (to remain PC) we were given an additional season, and we are grateful for it. It’s been a great season, but changes are bound to happen, whether you like it or not, it’s just the way things go, and fighting it isn’t always a good idea.

(S08E16) This was an episode that did not really work for me, or just wasn’t all that funny. But it’s okay, I forgive them, because we have to remember one thing, one thing that also might be responsible for what took place this week : the show is ending. There’s been talk of continuing for yet another season, even after the departure of creator Bill Lawrence and start Zach Braff, but this is the last season.
Not only that, but there’s only one episode left before the big hour-long series finale, and we need to get some closure for most if not all characters. It’s happening, JD & Eliot are back together, Cox has a new job bossing people around, the Janitor got married with his lady, we’re slowly getting there. And it’s precisely because we’re getting there, that this episode happened.

(S08E15) It’s a known fact that when a sitcom decides to pull out a double-episode, maybe even more so one at a remote location, it might ended up disappointing, especially in the second part. Often the first half-hour remains as great and funny as the show can be, while in its second half you start to see the signs, that they didn’t had enough material to do a full hour thing, that they’re trying to dragging out to fill time, that jokes aren’t at the usual level…
Special occasion as the Janitor was getting married, and here’s Scrubs attempt at a two-part episode in a remote location, and I think that they managed to do it very well. Maybe this episode wasn’t as hilarious as the show can be at times, but it wasn’t as much the result of a failure from the writers’ part as it was the way they constructed the episode.

(S08E14) Often, Scrubs has been praised not only for his comedy, but for how well it managed to bring together both comedy and drama into a half-hour episode, which could make you cry you laugh so hard, and then simply cry, all within the same episode. It’s a trademark of the show, but not one that it feels an obligation to.
This was a somewhat unusual episode, one where our favorite doctors not only decided to left Sacred Hearts and its load of sick people behind them (and for the oddest reason of all), but also one where, because of it, they focused pretty much entirely on the comedy aspect of the show. There was not the usual mix of comedy and drama, there were no sick patients to loose, it was all about laughs and good looks.
