A couple of recent casting news I feel like mentioning today, starting with one that involves the comedy Scrubs, relocated to ABC for next season since NBC are morons, and even though I’m pretty sure than chances are you know who it involves and everything that goes with it, i.e. what role that person has been casted for, I don’t think I will say it right now.
I know, I know, it’s been the headlines in about every blog or site about TV lately, in fact if you read such sites, and you happen to be spoiler-phobic, you might just be dying right now. I know some of those places are clearly all about spoilers, it’s a known fact and you shouldn’t expect any less that big spoilers in the titles, but for other places I’m always quite annoyed when I see such things, because I myself hate spoilers - I don’t understand why anyone would be interested in ruining his experience of a show he loves - and therefore I usually try to stay away from them as much as I can.
Anything that reveals something about upcoming episodes I consider spoilers, and I usually try as much as I can not to include any such things too early (before the jump), to let you decide whether or not you feel like being in the known, though I’m sure I regularly fail miserably at that - all apologies.

Shows: Criminal Minds, Scrubs

Nothing has been signed or officially confirmed so far, but according to Michael Ausiello it’s almost a done deal : Marty McFly* Michael J. Fox will join the cast of FX’s hit-drama Rescue Me for a multi-episode arc on the upcoming fifth season of the show.
Nothing has been announced, though an FX spokesperson confirmed that Fox is circling the role, but insisting “no deal is done yet“. As Ausiello reports though, Fox and creator/executive producer/star Denis Leary are longtime friends, so there’s no reason to think this won’t be happening.
This will be the first major TV appearance from Michael J. Fox since a stint on Boston Legal back in 2006, and I can’t wait to see it ! Of course, “wait” is what we’ll all have to do, since due to the strike and other complications the show won’t be returning to the airwaves before March 2009 !
UPDATE: According to E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos, Michael J. Fox is also currently in talks to reprise his role on NBC ABC’s Scrubs. Creator Bill Lawrence - also a friend of the actor, with whom he worked on Spin City, of course - has been talking to Michael J. Fox about reprising his role of Dr. Kevin Casey, last seen in 2004. Just how awesome does that all sound ?
* This being about TV, I could have used the name of Mike Flaherty, of course, but - at least to me - Michael J. Fox will always be, first, Marty McFly.

Always more lists of candidates for a nominations for an Emmy are being released, one way or another, and so here’s the latest. Starting with guest actress in comedy series, and - Thank God! - no sign of Spears or the likes. Surprisingly though, the delightful Sarah Chalke isn’t on the list, which I believe is a real shame. It’s not new, How I Met Your Mother always gets snubbed, sadly.
Funny thing though : Sarah Silverman is already on the list for Best Comedy Actress, and she’s also here for her guest appearance on Monk. I didn’t find her performance here to be that good, but then again I find Monk to be really not a very good show…
This season 30 Rock proved to be quite good when it comes to guest stars, and it shows : on the list of 11 possible nominees, we find no less than 3 names from the sitcom, same as Desperate Housewives, except that - at least according to me - the ones from 30 Rock should be amongst the five official nominees.

The Good
This season NBC had some really good series on, and not only that but they had simply the best new series of the season : Life. Some very good new series (again, Life, but also Journeyman) and some very good returning series (30 Rock, The Office, …), at first it really looks like NBC might be a winner.
(Side note: For all fans of Life out there, there’s a new fansite around, The Path To Zen, on which you can find (among other things) a really great & interesting read about how Life could become a big hit, if NBC believed in it! I highly recommend the read, especially if you like the show…)
Adding to that the renewal of newcomers Life and Chuck, both deserving a second season for sure, or finding a way to save fan-favorite Friday Night Lights, NBC looks like a winner.
And yet, they’re not.

The Good
This season ABC showed to be understanding of the situation, and decided to give a real chance to new series that had proven to be of quality, renewing Pushing Daisies, of course, but also Eli Stone or Dirty Sexy Money. And while I have mixed feelings over their treatment of Lost, overall it played out very nicely, offering us the best season to date and a fantastic 3-hour season finale ! Way to go.

There’s this thing about NBC, they have some really good great shows, they really do - it was the home of The West Wing, today they have Life or The Office (and more!), and not so long ago they still had Scrubs - but the thing is, they’re a bunch of retarded morons.
I mean seriously, they have all those great shows, shows that are truly great - hence why millions of fans are in love with them, and yet at the same time NBC execs can’t help but being idiotic, act like stupid [censored] and have no respect whatsoever for the people working on those shows, and as such earning them millions of dollars, or the people watching the shows, who as such are also responsible for those millions of dollars coming in.
They just don’t care, it makes you want to murder some people. And when you’ll read this interview of Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, you will need some self-control not to scream at those Zucker, Silverman and all the bunch…

Shows: Scrubs

The new schedule for ABC is now official, and truth be told it looks very much like the old one, that that’s by design. As McPherson said, “We’re returning our dominant core group of shows from last fall. The few openings we had we’ve filled with the kind of quality programming viewers have come to expect from ABC, and we have a very strong bench.”
Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!

Not much change on this Thursday since last week : CBS win the night and is getting a little closer to ABC on the demo, who remains a winner, all that while both Fox and NBC are loosing viewers.
At 8.00 CBS clearly won with a new Survivor, while Ugly Betty was still around 8.0 million viewers. But since Fox’s game lost 600 000 viewers, Betty took the second spot at that time. On NBC things weren’t too good lats night, My Name Is Earl loosing 700 000 viewers while for its very last episode on NBC, Scrubs lost 500 000 viewers. Of course, the fact that this episode wasn’t really great, and that NBC messed with the show one last time to prove they’re idiots who really don’t care about their shows or viewers might have helped…

(S07E11) This was the “Scrubs finale”, the season finale as well as the very last episode to be on NBC. There are still no official announcement because of politics, courtesy or whatever it is they decide to call it these days, but in the end it’s just all ludicrous since we all know that they are back into production, working on the first episodes of the eighth season. Because Scrubs will have another season, one finale season, once again. Only this time it will air on ABC.
Now was this episode meant to be a finale of any kind, absolutely not. Of course not, because each and every episode we saw after the strike had actually been written prior to it, and the season was supposed to last for seven more episodes, but morons at NBC didn’t feel like this was a good idea, and the wanted to cancel the show. Thank God ABC, who produces the show, came to the rescue of all fans, but while everything this season was meant to come to an end, the end was not supposed to come this early.
