The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees have been announced, and for the most part there’s really not much to say, except that sometimes it feels even more wrong than the Emmys, which is saying a lot considering. Favorite dramas only include the major hits (CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, House) completely missing even the fantastic Lost and its mind-blowing season, not nominated at all.
Just like for comedies are missing the most hilarious sitcoms on the air — that’s right, no mention of 30 Rock, The Office or How I Met Your Mother ! How is that even possible ??

But first off, if you missed it or just because it’s so great you can never have enough of it, make sure to watch (again) Ricky Gervais & Steve Carell at the Emmys.

Here’s a news that will probably get Moonlight fans even more pissed that their beloved show was on CBS and not elsewhere : after only its second airing, Alan Ball’s new series True Blood had already been renewed by HBO.
It’s really really a surprise, because Ball already created for HBO the Emmy-winning series Six Feet Under, and after a premiere watched by 1.4 million viewers, the show was up 24% last Sunday with 1.6 million viewers. The 10.30 rerun drew another 800 000 viewers for a total of 2.4 million viewers, up from the 2.1 million of the series premiere one week ago. Those aren’t Moonlight numbers, but we’re not talking about CBS either here, obviously.

There’s been much talk and then some about those nominations, as the top10 finalists lists have been made public, or find a way to the public eyes. But now speculations are over as the official nominees were announced by Patrick Harris and Kristen Chenoweth - both nominated by the way.
What to say ? Not many surprises, even with things that went wrong and the misses here and there. Not much love for The Wire, I think more was expected, but it’s a general trend : cable networks are kicking in with style (AMC, FX, etc) and HBO is really lacking some great hits nowadays. Sure, The Wire is still around, and Entourage hasn’t been forgotten despite being away for so long, plus the “experimental” In Treatment was noticed, but it’s not like they had a The Sopranos or Sex And The City anyways…
