2008 Teen Choice Awards: And The Winners Are…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | August 4, 2008

Blake Lively @ TCA 2008The ceremony airs tonight at 8.00 on Fox, but it has already been shot and the winners are already known. Of course, if you haven’t heard about it yet and wishes to stay in the dark until the show, for some reason, feel free to do so - I won’t post any results before the jump.

I’ll just remind you that as far as nominations went, despite what Nielsen may say Gossip Girl was a clear winner. If according to ratings the show isn’t a hit, it surely is when it comes to what teens actually love, never mind whether or not they can relate to the story as some recently complained about…

What to know if GG was the hit the TCA nominations announced it would be, or if Nielsen was right all along ? Wait to find out tonight on Fox, or just click right now to read the read of this post…

2008 Teen Choice Awards Nominations

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | June 17, 2008

TCA2008A new edition of the Teen Choice Awards is coming, and the nominations have been announced. The show, hosted this year by “teen sensation” Miley Cyrus will take place on August 4, 2008 and air on Fox at 8.00

The lead this year is without a doubt The CW’s new show Gossip Girl, confirming that while it may not do wonders in ratings (according to Nielsen at least), the show is extremely popular among its target audience, at the very least. The press release indicates no less than 14 nominations for the show (though I only counted 12, but who cares, right?)

I won’t list the entire list of nominees, focusing only of what we care about here : TV stuff. And while I know that this is the TCA, so I didn’t really expect Life to be nominated for best drama (though it deserves every possible award), some choice are a bit off nevertheless…

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly… This Season For ABC

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | June 16, 2008

ABC(This week we look back at how each of the main networks handled things this past season, as well as looking at how things are looking up for the coming one. Agree ? Disagree ? Share your thoughts and grade networks in the comments below…)

The Good

This season ABC showed to be understanding of the situation, and decided to give a real chance to new series that had proven to be of quality, renewing Pushing Daisies, of course, but also Eli Stone or Dirty Sexy Money. And while I have mixed feelings over their treatment of Lost, overall it played out very nicely, offering us the best season to date and a fantastic 3-hour season finale ! Way to go.

ABC Schedule for 2009

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 13, 2008

The new schedule for ABC is now official, and truth be told it looks very much like the old one, that that’s by design. As McPherson said, “We’re returning our dominant core group of shows from last fall. The few openings we had we’ve filled with the kind of quality programming viewers have come to expect from ABC, and we have a very strong bench.

Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!

More Cancellation, Renewals, Pickup News

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | May 12, 2008

Eliza DushkuThe upfronts are coming, as of course lots and lots of news floating in about what shows will be picked up, renewed or canceled. More news from almost every network coming in…

ABC

We know Eli Stone will be renewed for a second season, while Women’s Murder Club is gone. It also seems that, for some unexplainable reason, Miss/Guided is likely to be renewed for a second season. Don’t ask me, I have no idea.

Again, thanks to creator David E. Kelley, fans of Boston Legal will have another season. But the initial order is only for 13 episodes, and it might not go further than that; also, it will be with a significantly scaled down cast, and probably the last season.

Thursday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | April 4, 2008

Last night CBS welcomed not one but two of its drama back, and one of them is the highest rated of them all, so it’s not a surprise they easily won the night, both in total viewers with over 6 million more viewers overnight than the closest competitor, as well as on the demo with a shinning 4.6 while every other network averaged below 3.0

At 8.00 things started well for The Eye with an always strong Survivor, while on ABC Miss Guided had its last two episodes, of the season officially, but of the series I would imagine. Meanwhile on NBC was the return of some comedy that’s actually funny with a one-hour special of My Name Is Earl, with 7.5 million viewers and a nice 3.1 on the demo (more than twice what Miss Guided did).

Tonight On TV: My Name Is Earl, Eli Stone, CSI, Without A Trace, Miss Guided

* A few shows coming back tonight, including another sitcom that, for some reason, decided to also have a guest “celebrity” on…

* At 8.00 NBC welcomes back Earl and all his friends for a one-hour special of My Name Is Earl, staring Paris Hilton…

* Meanwhile ABC airs the two last episodes of Miss Guided, and it will not come back after that, it’s a series finale as well, right?

* At 9.00 CBS is happy to see their highest rated show back on, CSI is back, and there’s no Grey’s Anatomy on ABC, and no Idol on Fox. Sounds like a winner, doesn’t it?

* One hour later another new show is back on CBS, with a new Without A Trace

* But don’t forget that on ABC comes a new Eli Stone, and that show is actually fun, I hope it’ll get renewed.

Thursday’s Numbers

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 28, 2008

Last night was a new kind of Thursday, the kind where Lost isn’t there anymore. As a result NBC clearly take the night home, both in total viewers and on the demo. NBC was the only network to average over 10 million viewers (11.8 million), and no program on any other network reached 10 million viewers.

As last week it started at 8.00 with a Deal Or No Deal watched by one more million viewers than a week ago, and again it was the only program at that time to have over 10 million viewers (11.2 million). The basketball did good for CBS, at least better than last week, while ABC burned again two episodes of newcomer Miss Guided, which lost close to half a million viewers since last week, and 300 000 between the first and the second episode last night. Not good, but so is the show.

Tonight On TV: Reaper, Eli Stone, In Treatment, Smallville, Miss Guided (twice)

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 27, 2008

Tonight On TV

* This used to be the night all about Lost, and we were supposed to have an uninterrupted season, but somehow the universe course corrected itself and here we are, no Lost. This course correction thing really isn’t working for me…

* Anyways, at 8.00 ABC has two new episodes of Miss Guided, but you’re better off not watching, it’s crap.

* And you have an alternative : on The CW there’s a new Smallville. Believe it or not, despite focusing on product placement first and script second, it’s actually better than Miss Guided.

* At 9.00 finally comes something good : a new Reaper is on The CW ! For info, I believe this is the last episode completed before the strike.

* At 9.30 on HBO comes a new In Treatment. We’re saying goodbye to Jake and Amy this time, so I guess maybe she will join in this time…

* And finally at 10.00 don’t forget to tune in on ABC, because Lost or no Lost, Eli Stone is still there! And it’s a really great, fun show! You don’t want to miss that, right? Plus, there might even be an earthquake this week! (Don’t worry this is no spoiler, it comes just from having watched last episode.)

DVR Cleaning: The Return Of Jezebel James, Miss Guided

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 23, 2008

The Return Of Jezebel JamesI still haven’t had a chance to watch In Treatment, but since there are no new episodes this Monday and Tuesday, I’ll just watch Sophie’s last session then. So at least I’ll have this over you guys, I get to watch to sessions of Sophie this week !

Meanwhile this week-end I did watch a couple of “comedies”, sadly I wasn’t laughing much. Miss Guided I didn’t expect anything, after that awful pilot I was sure this show was never going to be great, and guesting little Britney Spears (whatever her name may be) isn’t a sign of anything good. Jesus I can’t believe that actual Britney found her way into the great sitcom that is How I Met Your Mother, CBS better announce its renewal very soon !

Anyways, let’s start with Jezebel James…
