Tuesday’s Numbers [11.25.2008]

NumbersSome changes for the usual Tuesday night last night. For one, CBS did not win the night, ABC did, as the Alphabet averaged 2.6 million more viewers than CBS. But ABC didn’t stop there, because they also took the demo from Fox — not by much (4.5 vs 4.4) but still. Yes, with Dancing With The Stars Finale ABC had a great night, as the show was the most-watched program of the night, beating NCIS in viewers or House on the demo (though not opposing either).

At 8.00 things were as usual though, NCIS winning the slot in viewers with 18.16 million viewers (+150 000) vs 12.49 million for House (-500 000), but the medical hit-drama won the demo with a 5.1 (3.7 for NCIS). The really bad news of the night for Fox was Fringe, dropping to a series low with only 8.73 million viewers, 3.9 on the demo.

NBC Reveals January 2009 Schedule; No Life, Chuck or Heroes…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | November 26, 2008

NBCWell, NBC finally announced part of their schedule for 2009 - part only, because it’s only what to expect for January, nothing yet as what will come after that - and while fans of Friday Night Lights who are waiting for the show to come on NBC will be happy to know they finally have a date to circle on the calendar - that would be be Friday, January 16th - others will probably be sad to see their shows missing.

Do you remember how ratings for shows such as Life or Chuck (to stay on NBC, but the same was true for Pushing Daisies or Eli Stone among others…) were down this season compared to the last ?? Does anyone still doubt that imposing (long) hiatus of shows will hurt them, especially if they’re not major hit likes 24 or Lost ? Don’t anyone remember how it killed Jericho ? Or, yes, Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, or to go back to the Peacock, how it hurt Life or Chuck in their current sophomore seasons ?

Tuesday’s Numbers [11.18.2008]

NumbersTypical Tuesday night, where CBS wins the night in viewers while Fox takes the demo, and it’s also one rare night where NBC get to do well, as least on the demo. The Peacock might be the only net (with The CW) not to reach 10 million viewers (8.62 million), yet it averaged 3.4 on the demo, coming second to Fox 4.8 and thus beating CBS (3.2) For the record, ABC tanked with a 2.7, which is actually better than last week…

At 8.00 we had the two winners : NCIS most-watched program with 17.98 million viewers, while House “only” had 13.03 million of them (+100 00) and yet won the demo with a nice 5.5 — compared to a pale 3.5 for NCIS. All the while 90210 on The CW went up 200 000 viewers and close to 3 million again, though not quite there yet (2.94 million, 1.6)

Tuesday’s Numbers [11.11.2008]

NumbersGreat night for CBS last night! The network was clearly the winner of the night, getting close to 16 million viewers overnight (15.8 million), and while beaten by the strong duo House/Fringe on the demo, The Eye still did quite well (especially before 10.00)

Things started all the better with the most-watched program of the night, NCIS, pulling 18.79 million viewers (4.0 on the demo), no less than a new series-high !! Way to start the night, but that didn’t impress the good cranky doctor of Fox, as House might have been down 300 000 viewers, it still was up on the demo scoring a very nice 5.5 — best performance of the night on the demo.

The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | November 10, 2008

People Choice AwardThe 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees have been announced, and for the most part there’s really not much to say, except that sometimes it feels even more wrong than the Emmys, which is saying a lot considering. Favorite dramas only include the major hits (CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, House) completely missing even the fantastic Lost and its mind-blowing season, not nominated at all.

Just like for comedies are missing the most hilarious sitcoms on the air — that’s right, no mention of 30 Rock, The Office or How I Met Your Mother ! How is that even possible ??

Tuesday’s Numbers [10.28.2008]

NumbersLast night, Fox only had a new episode of House to offer, as Fringe was on rerun mode. The network was only third in total viewers overnight, below 10 million viewers (9.55 M), and even if House doesn’t perform as well as it once did, don’t think it isn’t a hit anymore. Fox won the demo thanks to the cranky doctor, that’s how strong the show remains.

At 8.00 NCIS might have remained stable as most-watched program of the night with 17.08 million viewers, House managed to go up with 13.15 million viewers, and more importantly scored a 5.3 on the demo. That was enough to win the night for Fox, and while it might not be a 7, when the next best thing any show could do that night is 3.8 it just means TV ain’t doing as well as it was doing before, but House is still what it was — a hit.
