How I Met Your Mother: The Leap [season finale]

How I Met Your Mother(S04E24) So this was the episode we long waited for, not so much because it is the season finale, but because of what it was about, what would finally happen in this episode. Pretty much all year long, we’ve been waiting for a few things, painfully waiting for them even at times. One of those things was the resolution of that whole “goat incident” they teased a year ago, and the other being obviously Barney and his feelings for Robin.

And because of how they (writers) decided to do this, and by that I mean that they had us waiting until the very last episode of the season until finally getting to it, it was impossible for me not to separate the two, what actually took place and how long I waited for it, and how much expectations were build up, if only because we had so long to wait for it.

How I Met Your Mother: As Fast As She Can

How I Met Your Mother(S04E23) I’m not sure exactly how everybody feels about the “mystery” of the identity of the mother of Ted’s children, but as I’ve said many times in the past, as far as I’m concerned it’s one of the least interesting thing there is. You know how we say that what counts is the journey? Well same thing here, we don’t care that much about the mother’s identity, what matters is the journey.

Or, here, all the other things Ted will “tell” us while eventually, one day, getting to the point of meeting the mother of his children. But the good parts, what’s interesting and, let’s not forget, what’s actually funny, is about everything else, everything that comes before it. Which is why I personally couldn’t care less about the who the mother is, and while it might be fun to have a clue here or a hint there, who cares?!

How I Met Your Mother: Right Place Right Time

How I Met Your Mother(S04E22) Obviously the creative minds behind a show have their own visions and ideas of what the show is (about), and since they’re the ones making it all happen, their opinion is important. If they have a strong creative vision, they should stick with it. But what they think people are looking for every week and why we keep tuning in again and again might not be the reasons they imagine, and what us the audience feel towards the show is also of importance.

Maybe it’s me, but as far as I’m concerned I will say it again : I couldn’t care less who the mother is. I’m not saying that at some point I didn’t actually care, but over time it vanished, because as it turn out that’s just not what makes this show be either interesting or funny. Besides, given its concept and title, I still stand by my idea that the series finale should make the reveal, ending the very last episode of the show ever by Ted meeting someone, and Future Ted to be heard saying, “and that kid, is how I met your mother“. The End.

How I Met Your Mother: The Three Days Rule

How I Met Your Mother(S04E21) There are a couple of things I keep waiting for whenever I sit down to watch a new episode of this show, and so far I’m still waiting, because it’s not coming. It better be, I know it is, I just can’t wait, but it’s just not there yet. I could be disappointed or even annoyed, especially since we’ve been waiting long and for one of them it just doesn’t make sense that everyone keeps ignoring it, but here’s the thing.

If an episode isn’t good, or just okay even, I’ll be annoyed, no doubt. But if those guys can pull off an episode that is simply brilliant, absolutely hilarious from beginning to end, one that plays on everything that makes those characters so great, lovable and funny, one that makes me laughs my ass off for half an hour uninterrupted, but I just don’t see how I could complain about anything.

How I Met Your Mother: Mosbius Designs

How I Met Your Mother(S04E20) Before we talk about this episode, let’s talk pregnancy. Both ladies are pregnant (or were at the time of shooting this episode…) and I think this episode at both the best & worst way of “hiding” it. I know that we all know they are pregnant and so we can play along and pretend we don’t see nothing, because this is a TV show and we know it.

But seriously, at least with Lilly they’ve tried to hide it, putting a globe or lots of basketballs in front of her, or have her eat like crazy to win some contest or something. This week, however, they apparently decided that, expect for the occasional bag in front of her belly, Robin didn’t need to do anything to hide it. Well, let me tell you, she did. Oh yeah, she was showing…

How I Met Your Mother: Murtaugh

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 31, 2009

How I Met Your Mother(S04E19) We all know how unique this little sitcom can be, so much that it doesn’t even feel right to put it under that general term (General Term!) that is ’sitcom.’ but it is one, and in the past many have complained – yours truly included – that the show could resort to classic/cliché sitcom-esque plots or jokes that were beneath him and often resulted in less than average episode.

This week, what we had was still somewhat of the same, it didn’t had any of those HIMYM-special ways of telling a story, but used some classic sitcom-esque plot to make this episode. Yet, it worked. It might be because it was more inspired than before, it might be because every character got a chance to shine exactly the way you expect him/her to, it might be because Barney was at the center of it (though in the past that didn’t prevent such episodes from failing), or it might simply be because it was funny.
