(S05E24) Just because an episode isn’t good, or maybe satisfying would be a better word, doesn’t mean it cannot be enjoyed. For its season finale, I feel that what the writers had to offer us was flawed in many ways, and not one of the best/most satisfying episodes they could have done, but because they have such a wonderful and talented cast, starting with Hugh Laurie, it can be okay.
Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the episode was bad, in many ways it was great, yet at the same time and in many others it was not. That was a strange mix, and overall in the end I would say that it feels disappointing, although I can’t help but hope for the best and be confident that next season will be a very strong one. After all, writers of the show can do great things and avoid the usual TV clichés.

(S05E23) With this episode I realized something about this show: it can find an episode not to be very satisfying, and not like what happens or the way it happens, I can be skeptical about the direction the show seems to be getting into and find events I just witnessed to simply not sound right, and yet enjoy the episode quite a lot. Because this show always had this undeniable asset going for it: Hugh Laurie.
Of course he’s not the only one, they all are doing a great job on the show, even those we don’t (always) get to see much, but especially Laurie is simply pulling off one brilliant performance after the other. Maybe you could have lots of complaints about the case of the week, how House handled things, and/or everything else, but one thing remains, one thing makes this episode worth watching anyhow, and that’s how brilliant they all are.

(S05E22) The end of the season is near, and as a result something really bad just has to happen, we need a traumatic experience for House to suffer through. The thing is, it already did, there already was a tragic event when, a few weeks back, one of his team member pulled the trigger and killed himself. Nobody saw it coming, not even House who’s usually so good at that, even he didn’t see any signs that could indicate Kutner would or could do such a thing.
He did, and it affected people, his friends & co-workers, for about one episode and a half. Because this is TV land after all, and there’s no time for time. Last time we saw House, though, he didn’t look all that fine, because he had an unexpected visit from Amber herself, which was pretty odd considering she’s dead. The question was: what the Hell is going on inside House’s mind??

(S05E21) Last week was what it was, and after such a traumatic event one of the concern I had was that, despite everything, things would easily be “forgotten.” That while in real life this would have a (more or less) important effect on people, and that for someone like House it might be devastating, because this is nothing but a TV show everything would resort back to normal.
This episode actually played with this idea/fear, but so far it seems to be done for the better, with an episode that wasn’t only great, but after the recent depressing time, managed to be pretty funny, hilarious at times even. This was a very enjoyable episode, and not to be mean about them, but one of the reason might be that House’s team wasn’t much involved.

(S05E20) This was one very “special” episode I guess, although one thing I’m absolutely certain about is that it will not have had the same impact on viewers who were spoiled before going in, and those completely in the dark. As far me, I’m allergic to spoiler and I stay away from every such thing as much as I possibly can, I don’t even watch the promos for upcoming episodes, so I didn’t expect anything at all coming in, but what I do with every episode of the show.
Obviously, I was caught by surprise just as much as everybody else on the show, as I didn’t see this coming at all. It was surprising, shocking even, but in the end it leaves me not sure what to think of this episode. Was it a really good one, where things were handled very truthfully, or was it one that highlighted underlying problems with the show?

(S05E19) It’s been five years, that’s a long time and a lot of episodes, and understandably a show that far in might not be as fresh as when it started. For a moment there, when House fired (or lost) his entire team, and then embarked on a long quest to find worthy replacement, it got fresh again. It allowed the writers to shake things up a bit and use new blood.
But now that’s all past, and they managed to turn some of the doctors of House current team very annoying (yes I’m thinking of her). But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fresh again, when pulling out in idea as did this episode for instance. Of course, it’s not new, I’m sure there are way more shows than I could think of that have actually used the same way of telling a story before.
