(S01E05) There was no new episode this week, as this one is actually from last week. But I’ve had little troubles and, long story short, didn’t get to watch this episode until this weekend, so here we go. Having watched this episode, I pretty much feel the same I did last time, and that is that the main problem so far with the show – besides being bad, though in a fun way – is that it isn’t what it should be, it’s still not what it should be about.
It’s still about a wedding, and not people trapped in on island with a killer eliminating them one by one. Again, this is a 13-episode story, and we’re at episode 5 already so people need to start realizing what’s going on, we need screams, suspicions, accusations, all that will make the story be good (or not) in the end. Now, at least we finally got to the point where things will change, but it took long enough!

Shows: Harper's Island
In Series: Harper's Island Season 1

(S01E04) Okay it’s official, I love this show, it’s just so freaking bad! I’m sorry but it just is. At first I really wanted to like it, I hoped this would be a good horror story nicely spread out over the only 13 episodes of its run, but it’s just failing. It does, but it does with style, being so bad that I have to admit, it’s a lot of fun. If I didn’t get scared at all during this episode, I did laugh out loud quite a few times it was so bad.
It’s obviously not intentional or the way it was intended to be watched, but then again when you’re doing a show that’s all about an isolated island and people dying one by one, everyone getting scared and suspicious of everyone as no one knows who to trust and who not to trust, trying to find out who’s the killer before they’re all dead, there’s just one thing you cannot do : wait for the last episode before people start noticing there’s a killer on the loose.

Shows: Harper's Island

(S01E03) I have a confession to make: I suck with names. TV shows but even movies, I usually have a hard time remembering each of the characters’ names, I can see who’s who and whatnot, but when it comes to their names I need a bit more time. With this show, however, it’s not just the names, sometimes I watch the screen and I just think too myself, okay who are those people? Have we seen them before? Am I supposed to remember them?
I know there’s a large group of people, not everybody knows each other, lots of unknown faces that have yet to be seen, but it still bugs me a little. What really annoyed me, though, was that some of the people here are known by about everyone, they’re important and can’t be missed or ignored. Think of the future husband and wife, for instance, obviously.

(S01E02) When I first heard about this show I got interested, but I didn’t want to get too excited, even after the pilot – which I thought was pretty good and left me wanting to see more, always a good sign – because of past experiences that ended badly (NBC’s Fear Itself for instance). But with this second episode we got a confirmation that this is good stuff, and if you like seeing people getting killed and wondering who the killer might be, this is for you.
So far so good, and I just really hope that as weeks go they can manage to keep things up and not fall into all the usual traps & clichés of the genre. Right now more and more people are getting killed, and I still have no real idea of who the killer might be, and that’s just part of the fun, isn’t it? Let’s see where we are now…

Last week had a few new series make their big debut, lots of cops, a few (unsolved) murders, and a giant hole. No less than four new series premiered last week, and while I failed to talk about any of them I actually got to watch all of them, so let’s go over it all and discuss what worked and what did not, what might be worth tuning in to every week, and what isn’t worth our time.
Four new shows, and while I might probably watch all of them for a few more weeks, cause you never know how things might go, plus I’m still a TVoholic and can’t really help myself, but I already feel like there are some shows I will not really like / end up watching every week. Quick reviews of them all, and I’ll be curious to hear what you have to say about each and all of them…

In a few weeks we will be entering a new year, and with it comes, of course, a new TV schedule. Some series are (sadly) going away, others are finally coming back and there’s even new ones to make their big debut ! Which only begs the question : When??
So in an attempt to make things easier for everyone trying to see how they’ll manage their TV next year, much like our 2008 Complete Fall Schedule, TVoholic present to you the 2009 Winter Schedule, last updated on December 21st, 2008.
You will find here the complete 2009 winter schedule (!) day by day, with all shows on their slots with their premiere dates included. That way you can see how [insert day here] will be, try to see what you’ll watch and what you’ll have set on your DVR, and when things will be back. And because sometimes you want to know things the other way around, know what will be on at a given time, I’ve also included the list of all premieres dates ordered by date. With all that, hopefully you should have all the information you need to get ready for a new year of television.

The new schedule for CBS is now official, and they are adding five new series – three dramas and two comedies. The most noticeable addition to the schedule might be the long-rumored creation of another night of comedy, as President Nina Tassler said : “We’ve been looking to expand our comedy lineup, and we now have the depth and development to make the move. Monday is already television’s signature night for comedy and we think we can make the case that CBS is the signature network for comedy overall.”
Yeah, right, CBS wants to be the signature network for comedy overall, and they should know their facts : when it comes to comedy, they were able to take the awesome gem that is How I Met Your Mother and bring it down not once but twice by the addition of Britney Spears (who they might even have to come back again!). Seriously, if you have to think about it more than one second when it comes to renewing this show, then you obviously don’t know nothing about comedy, or ones that are actually funny that is. (rant over.)
Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!
