The ceremony airs tonight at 8.00 on Fox, but it has already been shot and the winners are already known. Of course, if you haven’t heard about it yet and wishes to stay in the dark until the show, for some reason, feel free to do so - I won’t post any results before the jump.
I’ll just remind you that as far as nominations went, despite what Nielsen may say Gossip Girl was a clear winner. If according to ratings the show isn’t a hit, it surely is when it comes to what teens actually love, never mind whether or not they can relate to the story as some recently complained about…
What to know if GG was the hit the TCA nominations announced it would be, or if Nielsen was right all along ? Wait to find out tonight on Fox, or just click right now to read the read of this post…

It’s a recurring question that I’ve been asking myself on many occasions. While it seems widely accepted by every major party on the business that, however flawed Nielsen ratings maybe, they have been an established ratings measurement institution for many years and everyone just agrees to accept whatever numbers they come up with because, at the end of the day, they are believed to represent an overall “accurate” representation of which TV shows are the most watched every day, one can’t help but wonder.
I know many fans of Jericho have repeatedly said that Nielsen wasn’t right, and many more of them were watching the show than was reported. Fans from (many) other shows have also complained, and while it’s easy to say they’re only doing so because they love their shows, sometimes you have to wonder if, really, after all those years and so many spin-offs, CSI remains one of the most-watched series to this day, or if Nielsen families are just not really representative (anymore) of the current households in the United States ?

At this point we have the fall schedule and premiere dates for all the main networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and The CW) so now the only thing that remains is for you to search for the information concerning the shows you love/are interested in.
To make things easier for everyone, I took back the complete new fall schedule compiled before premiere dates were known and updated it. You will find here the complete 2008 fall schedule day by day, with all shows on their slot with their premiere dates included. That way you can see how [insert day here] will be, try to see what you’ll watch and what you’ll have set on your DVR, and when things will be back.
And because sometimes you want to know things the other way around, know what will be on at a given time, I’ve also included the list of all premieres dates ordered by date. With all that, hopefully you should have all the information you need to get ready for next fall.

And now we have them all. After the four big networks, The CW announced their premiere dates for next season, and the most important thing to note is that while for most networks we will have to wait for mid-September if not October, things will start sooner on The CW.
Much like on Fox, things will begin on September 1st, with the return of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. It’s probably a good idea, especially for Gossip Girl, to get people hooked on those shows before there’s anything else on at that time. That said, how desperate does it look for The CW to put GG at 8.00 while promoting it as a show where everyone is having sex with everyone all the time ?
Anyways, new series 90210 premieres on September 2 with a two-hour special, while Privileged (previously Surviving The Filthy Rich) premieres one week later. Smallville and Supernatural both come back on September 18, and if you don’t see Reaper anywhere don’t panic, remember that the show has been sent back to midseason and won’t return until 2009 (no date has been set yet).
All the dates after the jump !

Seems that The CW was pretty pleased with their OMFG campaign last season, because they are clearly going with a OMFG version 2.0 when it comes to promoting the sophomore season of their latest hit (through not that much according to Nielsen, but what do they know about it anyways…), Gossip Girl.
I don’t really like it, because just like the first time it gives a completely different impression of what GG is than what it really is, and it’s nothing like just a stupid show trying to sell sex and outrageous behaviors to teens, but when it comes to TV execs it’s easy: sex sells, so let’s sell sex.
Here’s the new & improved OMFG campaign, in four promo pics and a little teaser with shots from the upcoming season but no real spoilers when it comes to plot or anything… up to you.

(This week we look back at how each of the main networks handled things this past season, as well as looking at how things are looking up for the coming one. Agree ? Disagree ? Share your thoughts and grade networks in the comments below…)
The Good
They do have a few good shows, really good shows in fact. Despite not pulling out amazing ratings, Gossip Girl has a generated a lot of buzz (see Teen Choice Awards), so much many are convinced it’s a real hit, and that’s okay because the show is actually good. And of course, the best of The CW comes from the dark side, say hello to Supernatural and Reaper, both renewed!

A new edition of the Teen Choice Awards is coming, and the nominations have been announced. The show, hosted this year by “teen sensation” Miley Cyrus will take place on August 4, 2008 and air on Fox at 8.00
The lead this year is without a doubt The CW’s new show Gossip Girl, confirming that while it may not do wonders in ratings (according to Nielsen at least), the show is extremely popular among its target audience, at the very least. The press release indicates no less than 14 nominations for the show (though I only counted 12, but who cares, right?)
I won’t list the entire list of nominees, focusing only of what we care about here : TV stuff. And while I know that this is the TCA, so I didn’t really expect Life to be nominated for best drama (though it deserves every possible award), some choice are a bit off nevertheless…

Good news for you, Upper East Siders: Little J has not left the building… yet.
As reported earlier, rumors are out that producers are working on a Gossip Girl spinoff, as it exists in the books, most likely based on the character of Jenny Humphrey. Contacted by E!Online’s Kristin, executive producer Josh Schwartz denies there’s any truth to that.
Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment. The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start.

Oh boy… apparently the makers of so-called hit-drama The CW’s Gossip Girl, which despite a large buzz on the Internet and huge promo campaign failed to perform greatly in ratings, are playing with the idea of a spinoff series, which would be set at a girls boarding school.
Truth be told, this idea actually comes fro the books Gossip Girl is based on : in the books, little J wants to become popular and struggles to fit in. After a series of public embarrassments (including appearing in a teen magazine wearing next to nothing) she ends up having to either repeat ninth grade, or find a new school. Unsurprisingly, she decides to go somewhere else, and reinvents herself as a popular girl after entering a boarding school. Her story was told in a series of six spinoff novels, called The It Girl.

You all remember Gossip Girl’s first season finale, right? Did you feel there was a large taste of happy ending in the air ?
It may have looked a bit unusual, as season finales tend to end more with a cliffhanger in the middle of a very dramatic event, it’s best to keep one want more. And while it’s not that the season finale we actually got to see was disappointing, the one we didn’t get to see, the original one, might just have been much better, and a lot less happy let’s be honest…
