(S02E25) It’s a weird feeling I got, watching this episode. It’s the end of the year (What are you talking about? It’s May!) and the end of everything, letting old things rest in the past and diving head first into an uncertain future. For most of the Upper East Siders high school is (about to be) a thing of the past, and next year they’re all heading to, well, a few places.
But before that, some issues needed to be addressed, and that’s exactly what happened. But I have to say that this had a very odd feeling to it, something that I probably wouldn’t have minded had this been the very last episode of the show ever, but considering that there will be a third season, I couldn’t help but feel this was a bit too much.

(S02E24) This was the famous episode introducing what the spin-off could look like, should it be picked up. There’s still no official word about whether or not it will happen, some say yes, others no, but if it does it will look like a lot of this episode did, set in the eighties as we get to see how Lilly used to be when she was young, and not yet a Van der Woodsen.
As a result this was a “strange” episode, half what GG usually is, half what the new show could be like, and probably not like any of them really. I don’t know if it was 50/50 but it felt to me like we got to see more of when the spinoff could be than we did see of GG. Still, let’s begin with what actually took place in our present. Last time we saw everyone, Serena was behind bars and everyone calling their PIs and whatnot.

(S02E22) I didn’t watch this show as soon as I usually do, quite simply because I’ve been disappointed with recent episodes and, frankly, I didn’t expect things to be a lot better this time around, so I didn’t rush into it. Now that I got to watch the episode, I’m glad I did what I did, because it was clearly not a really good episode. It’s weird, because despite all its flaws I still feel like I overall enjoyed it - maybe because I laughed a lot in the end, more on that later – but the reality remains, it wasn’t very good.
Also, boringly predictable. Not just predictable, but when characters seem to act the way they do with only one possible purpose, create some fake drama as fast as possible, it just doesn’t make things any good. In fact, it’s a sign that things are actually bad, not just because there’s fake drama but because it’s so obvious it only exists for the sake of it.

(S02E21) I’m not sure if it’s me or if it really is the show, but ever since it came back on the air there’s been maybe one (or two) episode(s) I liked, while most of them turned to be quite a disappointment. And this week, sadly, was in the same batch as all of those episodes, it was not interesting, it was either boring if you decided not to get invested all that much and did something else while watching, or plain annoying otherwise.
Lots of the same old same old, with Serena being Serena and lying to everyone and of course using Dan and pretending to get back together, and the while “I’m in trouble” again which always is annoying because, when she’s not around, in her past or while away, she apparently do crazy things, but we only get to see her being the annoying, self-centered, stupid self.

(S02E20) In the previous weeks I had been quite disappointed with this show, and so I am happy to say that this episode was – finally – better. I wouldn’t say it was as good as the show once was, and quite frankly the more it goes the more I wonder if a third season will do it any good, but at least this episode was better and that is a good thing.
Different things took place this week, as the once referred to as Little J was turning 16 (yes, she was only 15 during her rebellious weeks living in the streets and whatnot) and that is, usually, a very big deal. Of course, as is always the case in the Upper East Side, things didn’t exactly go as planned and it ended up badly. Where would be the fun otherwise?
