(S07E16) The most important thing, or certainly the first objective of a sitcom, is to make its audience laugh. As such, you’d think that after that overly long hiatus they had, writers of Family Guy would have at least ensured if not to save the best for last, to make sure they would end the very uneven season on a high note. However, that would be a huge mistake on your part.
For a few weeks now the writers have clearly been uninspired, so much that it feels like they just don’t have any clue of what to do anymore, no more jokes, not one story left to tell, so instead last week they borrowed stories from others. Unfortunately that was a nightmare, with an episode that had 3 laughs in it — really, I counted them, not one more.

As you may have noticed I haven’t mentioned any of Sunday’s shows, because things didn’t go as planned and I haven’t had a chance to watch them yet. Well, I did watch Family Guy but haven’t had time to write about it (although in short it sucked).
Both In Plain Sight and Breaking Bad are sitting on my DVR, and I haven’t given up on any of them of course. I can’t wait to see either of them, but obviously things didn’t stop in TV land and there are other shows I’ll get to first. I’ll try to watch & review them during the week though…

(S07E13) God damnit. Sometimes this show was be really funny, hilarious even, and if recent episodes have been quite disappointing, last week installment of the show worked very well, I thought. I was hoping that for the rest of this season the show would now be – finally – back on tracks and deliver one great/funny episode after the other, making us forget those dreadful times of unfunny/boring episodes we had to suffer through.
Alas, here we go again. The construction of this episode was pretty standard (for the show, that is) and some of the jokes that made no sense and/or came out of nowhere might have worked, but for the most part this was simply not funny.

(S07E12) Recent episodes have left me quite disappointed by the show, so much that I felt it might be time to retire and put it off the air (again), maybe I was even seriously considering stopping watching it if it couldn’t get any better, and simply funny as it used to be. Then came this episode, and finally I feel good about the show again.
Sure there was one main story spreading over the full course of the episode, and I’m sure many will criticize the show for yet again having Brian pushing his political agenda on us, but there’s a reason I don’t mind any of that myself, and that’s mainly that it worked, it was funny as Hell and the episode didn’t ever get slow or boring, it remained fresh and dynamic all the way through – something it hadn’t done in a long time.

(S07E11) So… that was it. Another episode of Family Guy that, quite frankly, doesn’t inspire me with much to say but what has been said before, about how much the show lost its appeal, how unfunny it’s become and how lazy the writers can appear to be. I know they love the idea to repeat/redo a joke over & over & over again for way too long, but past a point it just gets very old and not funny at all.
And the thing is, maybe it could be funny, if it was fresh at least in the execution, if they tried to make it funny instead of just going for the same old routine without even bothering to try and add something new. Take the Meg bashing for instance, I love that crap. Or, I used to, because now it’s come to a point where they just push things too far and don’t even try to make it funny.
