NumbersLast night CBS had another Football overrun at 7.00 resulting in the entire line-up delayed by half an hour. With that boost The Eye was the most-watched network with 16.59 million viewers, but the demo was won by NBC (5.8) thanks to a night of football, the only thing that still does well on NBC.

At 8.00 while CBS had the overrun did wonder in its favor and the Football performed high as well on NBC, the comedy night on Fox wasn’t really affected : The Simpsons were up 300 000 viewers with 8.52 million viewers and 3.9 on the demo, leading into King Of The Hill up 200 000 viewers, with 7.04 million viewers and 3.2 on the demo.

Family Guy: Tales Of A Third Grade Nothing

Family Guy(S07E06) I was disappointed by last week’s episode, which I thought failed to be really funny, especially once the Jackass parody was over. It might be taste, but as far as I’m concerned Family Guy is never as hilarious as when it doesn’t try to do anything else but what but does best : throw at us one joke after the other, regardless of whether or not it really makes sense, much less is part of an actual bigger story.

That’s what this episode did, and that’s really how I love the show. After last week’s faux-pas we’re back on track this week, with an episode as hilarious as this show can be, and it even had something that has become quite rare this season : Meg. Not that she’s a character I miss, she’s no Stewie or anything like that, but it’s always fun when she’s around and people make fun of her, or worse.

The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | November 10, 2008

People Choice AwardThe 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees have been announced, and for the most part there’s really not much to say, except that sometimes it feels even more wrong than the Emmys, which is saying a lot considering. Favorite dramas only include the major hits (CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, House) completely missing even the fantastic Lost and its mind-blowing season, not nominated at all.

Just like for comedies are missing the most hilarious sitcoms on the air — that’s right, no mention of 30 Rock, The Office or How I Met Your Mother ! How is that even possible ??

Sunday’s Numbers [11.09.2008]

NumbersLast night was won by football, making CBS winner in viewers (14.60 million) thanks to an approximate half-hour football overrun a 7.00 (with about 24.20 million viewers and a 7.3 on the demo), while NBC won the demo (4.9) with their night dedicated to football, (one of?) the only thing allowing the Peacock to win something.

At 8.00 and after a special Halloween last week, things were back to normal on Fox, The Simpsons down to a more regular 8.16 million viewers and 3.9 on the demo - slight up compared to two weeks ago, leading into King Of The Hill with 6.79 million viewers and 3.3 on the demo, actually down 600 000 viewers compared to two weeks ago.

Family Guy: The Man With Two Brians

Family Guy(S07E05) Except for a disappointing season premiere, this season has been on a roll so far and last week was your typical perfect episode of Family Guy, one filled with many jokes and pop references thrown all over the place as the show knows how to do so well. Sometime it’s been criticized for it, but I always thought that’s when the show is at its best, when it does what it knows to do best unlike trying to do what everybody else does.

You know, one story lasting the entire episode and where every jokes is part of that big picture. Which is what they did this week, the complete opposite of last week. In a structure which, to me, sounded much like something The Simpsons often do, we had a short (and very funny) story leading into the big story of the episode, the one that would last til the end of it.

Sunday’s Numbers [11.02.2008]

NumbersLast was one as you don’t see often these days : thanks to its Sunday Night Football NBC managed to be the most-watched network of the night, coming close second to Fox on the demo (4.5 vs 4.9), all that while being the less watched network, not counting The CW of course. Because Fox still had 10.74 million viewers, while The CW couldn’t get one (0.75 million).

On Fox The Simpsons had a season high for their Treehouse of Horror with 12.48 million viewers and no less than a 6.2 on the demo ! The Simpsons was the number 1 program of the night on the demo (yes, beating Football and Desperate Housewives), now when was the last time the show performed that good ?? And quite frankly, this is absolutely not deserved one bit, that episode was a real bore and not funny once…

Family Guy: Baby Not On Board

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | November 3, 2008

Family Guy(S07E04) The season premiere was disappointing, but other than that we’re getting a really good and very funny season of Family Guy so far! Last week we had a special episode, a new Road To with Stewie and Brian involved in their latest time travel adventure. This week was more of a return to basis, to what made the show what it is and made us laughs so much all those years.

One thing I’ve never really been a fan of, for this show, is when they try to have one big story to go on over the course of the entire episode. Somehow, most of the times it falls flat and ends up disappointing. I don’t care what South Park says, I do love the jokes and references this show throws at us all the time, even - or especially - when they don’t really make sense or aren’t related at all to anything.
