NumbersNot a whole lot to talk about when it comes to last night, except to say that CBS won the night thanks a rerun of NCIS - most-watched program of the night – and the Kennedy Center Honors Special which did rather well, though performed poorly on the demo. And it was NBC who won on the demo, with a rerun of Law & Order: SVU doing as good as the one of NCIS two hours earlier, only with 3.8 million viewers less.

As for actually new things, ABC had both a new According To Jim at 9.30 which merely got 3.77 million viewers and 1.2 on the demo, a clear season low, followed at 10.00 by a new episode of Eli Stone, which didn’t do much better – even though, well, it actually did do better – with only 3.81 million viewers (and lost 300 000 viewers from its first to second half-hour) and 1.2 on the demo. That was a season low for Eli Stone, which had never got below 4 million viewers before.

Eli Stone: Two Ministers

Eli Stone(S02E09) Well, this was obviously the last episode of 2008 for Eli Stone, and it might also be the last one in a while/altogether, since while more episodes have been produced, ABC has yet to announce any dates for the remaining episodes. Hopefully they will air those episodes, but for now we don’t know when, or even if, they will do so. I sure hope they will, though.

As for this episode, it’s definitely not the one you want to end the show with. A few reasons fore that, the main one being that this can’t be how Eli is last remembered by its fans, we cannot have as memory of the last time we saw him what we got to see during this episode. Because of what happened and the way things “ended” of course, but also because I don’t think this was a very good episode!

Happy Festivus! Happy Festivus everyone – Now let me tell you how disappointed I am!

That’s how it goes, every 365 days or so when the year comes to an end, right before Christmas, you turn to your loved ones to tell them how they’ve disappointed you again, as goes the good old tradition of the alternate holiday introduced to us by no other than George’s dad, Frank Costanza.

Now make sure your aluminum pole is ready, and let’s have a look at all the things that disappointed us this year in TV land. And as it turns out, disappointments have been legion!

Tuesday’s Numbers [12.16.2008]

NumbersAnother really good night for CBS last night, with all their shows hitting series high but Without A Trace, still hitting a season high! The Eye averaged no less than 17.89 million viewers while no other net would reach the 10 million mark, and yet NBC managed to do well as it tied on the demo with CBS and a 3.8

At 8.00 NCIS had a new series high with 19.86 million viewers and 4.0 on the demo, while The Biggest Loser on NBC had “only” 10.53 million viewers but performed as strongly on the demo.

Eli Stone: Owner Of A Lonely Heart

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 17, 2008

Eli Stone(S02E08) I remember how last time, I was worried about what was going on with this show, how its constant evolution might had it lost itself and forget what was, it used to be or was supposed to be. It felt like the show did resemble what it originally was, to the point where I wasn’t sure whether or not this was still really Eli Stone, the show that I loved.

So I’m happy to say that this week felt a little bit more “normal” than last episode. It’s still quite different that what it used to be last season, in the way Eli deals with everything that happens to him, and there’s still a focus more on the personal aspect of everyone’s life that there used to be, but I guess I just really liked this episode.

When will your favorite shows end in 2008 ?

Running out of time? The year is slowly coming to an end, and with it television is like a tree losing its leaves, only it’s our beloved TV shows that are disappearing, leaving our screens empty. It’s always a sad but required period of time when there simply isn’t as much stuff on TV as there used to be, but just to make things more fun (or something like that) not every show airs up to the same date/week and leaves at the same time.

If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering which shows are already gone for this year, and when are the others going to leave us, and this is why I went on to collect such information about quite a few shows and put it all in one place. Now, you can have a quick look at the updated list below, and see if your favorite show has some episodes left for 2008, and if so how many and when they will air.

Tuesday’s Numbers [12.09.2008]

NumbersEven with a night of rerun CBS can do very well, better than any other network in fact. Yes, another night of rerun that won the night for The Eye, with 12.10 million viewers. Of course, Fox was the big winner on the demo, thanks to the great Dr House!

At 8.00 we had the most-watched program of the night, and that was indeed a rerun, of NCIS - 14.11 million viewers and a 2.7 on the demo. Of course, while having less viewers (13.91 million) House was the big winner on the demo, with a very nice 5.6

Eli Stone: Help

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 10, 2008

Eli Stone(S02E07) Remember how in the past I’ve praised this show for its constant evolution – and improvement – episodes after episodes ? It’s always been something very special on this show, things never really stayed the same, in more than one way. But lately I’m starting to wonder if this might not actually be the cause of his demise, and where the show is stating to lose itself.

Because if it’s one thing to always have things in motion, and never simply redo the same old formula applied to each and every episodes, it’s also something else completely to take what the show once was, and turn it into something entirely different. Now, I’m not saying this is what happened here on Eli Stone, but it does feel like we’re heading that way.
