Media Rights Capital was in charge of Sunday nights on The CW, but it never really worked. Valentine and Easy Money didn’t even average 1 million viewers per night, and about 0.3 on the demo. Needless to say it was a complete failure and wasn’t going to last — even though I’m not sure why they kept airing reruns lately, sure original episodes barely got more viewers, but it was still more viewers, and at least the few watching the shows could keep watching…
Anyways, The CW is taking its Sunday nights back, and one of the rerun shows to be aired is no other than… Jericho! Remember Jericho? The show about nuclear explosions that CBS killed halfway through its first season, then canceled, then brought back for a shortened second season but not without ensuring said season wouldn’t have a chance to succeed because, well, it’s CBS !?

The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees have been announced, and for the most part there’s really not much to say, except that sometimes it feels even more wrong than the Emmys, which is saying a lot considering. Favorite dramas only include the major hits (CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, House) completely missing even the fantastic Lost and its mind-blowing season, not nominated at all.
Just like for comedies are missing the most hilarious sitcoms on the air — that’s right, no mention of 30 Rock, The Office or How I Met Your Mother ! How is that even possible ??

* Excuse me, but I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Yes, NBC picked up for a full season their latest crap, Kath & Kim, proving once again how much trouble they were in. Either that, or it’s just because the show happens to come from Ben Silverman’s production company Reveille, and since the guy is crazy and clearly loves to put really bad show on the air.
Anyways, the back-nine order is there, and since I seriously doubt either Crusoe - which is bad and performing and worse - or the newly sent to die Lipstick Jungle - which wouldn’t even be doing nicely if on The CW - will get a pick-up, I can only hope Life will get its much-deserved back-nine order. Otherwise, I won’t bother with any new shows on NBC which, based on their new series so far this season, wouldn’t change much anyway for me.

Last night was won by Fox thanks to the World Series, while NBC tanked pretty good trying to air a movie, which never really works these days. Not much to say about the programs at 8.00 if only that on The CW and despite a pretty strong competition (14.95 million viewers (5.0 on the demo) for Fox, and 12.15 million viewers (3.9 on the demo) on ABC) Valentine managed to get 150 000 more viewers, though 0.85 million viewers and 0.3 on the demo is still a failure.
At 9.00 things were even worse for Easy Money, losing viewers with 0.67 million viewers and a 0.2 on the demo. Meanwhile on ABC, Desperate Housewives was the most-watched program of the night with 15.21 million viewers and 5.7 on the demo, while Cold Case managed to get a season high with over one million more viewers, and 12.00 million viewers watching last night (2.8 on the demo).

Last night winner is CBS, probably helped by a nice Football overrun of about 45 minutes. That means all numbers for CBS are quite approximate, and that each program started with about a 45-minute-delay, hence the messy results it gets. On another note, all network had at least a 3.0 on the demo last night, so there’s so losers really — except for The CW of course, with 0.69 million viewers and 0.2 on the demo over night…
At 8.00 the animated comedy night was back on Fox, opening with The Simpsons and 8.09 million viewers, about 700 000 more viewers than last episode on October 5th. Coming after that was King Of The Hill also up, with 7.35 million viewers.

* Matthew Perry will be back on television. As mentioned previously Perry has been working on a new project, The End Of Steve, a dark comedy produced and written by Matthew Perry and Peter Tolan, starring Perry as lead, an egomaniacal local talk show host who is on a reluctant path to redemption, as well as looking for love with the station’s morning show host.
And the pilot must have been good, as the show was picked up by Showtime.
* Do you watch The Daily Show With Jon Stewart ? Do you like correspondents Jason Jones and Samantha Bee ? Well, enjoy them while you still can, because they might be following Steve Carell’s path and leave the show. Married Jones and Bee have signed on to co-create and co-write a script for a sitcom for The Eye, in which they’ll both star, about the behind-the-scenes world of a celebrity chef (Jones) and the two women who help him run his empire (one of whom being played by Bee). The couple are working on the project as part of a new, for which they also sealed separate talent holding pacts with CBS and sister studio CBS Paramount Network TV.
* The Sunday nights on The CW haven’t really been doing too well, and MRC has halted production on both Valentine and Easy Money. Both shows will be shut down for about four to six weeks, although Media Rights Capital insist that there’s no cancellation in the air and this is part of a pre-planned hiatus, and all 13 ordered episodes will be produced for both series.
Of course, if the ratings continue to go down in the coming weeks, MRC is likely not to resume production. Not that anyone cares, I mean, does anyone watch any of those shows ? I tried, but they both suck…

Last night was all about sports, with Football on NBC - winner of the night on the demo - and Baseball on Fox - winner of the night in total viewers, though that’s only due to the half-hour football overrun at 7.00 which had no less than 21.84 million viewers and an 8.2 on the demo.
As for our favorite shows, at 8.00 Valentine managed to remain pretty stable and even improve on the demo (though 0.4 is in no way satisfying), and was the only MRC series to reach 1 million viewers (1.01 M). One hour later things were pretty awful for Easy Money going down with 300 000 less viewers than last week and merely 750 000 viewers still watching and 0.3 on the demo. Not good, no question there.
