* On Thursday night it all happens at 10.00 - on CBS we have a new episode of Flashpoint
* While NBC has another Fear Itself. I have no faith it’ll be good no more, so my surprise in reading that it is on the bubble for a second season, is that they would actually consider ordering a second season…
* And finally on USA comes a new episode of Burn Notice

Shows: Burn Notice, Fear Itself, Flashpoint
By fred | July 24, 2008

* Thursday is a big TV night, that’s the rule, and just because it’s summer and there’s not much on does it mean this should change. Which is why tonight we have a few shows that may be worth watching, all on tonight, and all at 10.00 of course.
* On CBS it’s the newly relocated Flashpoint that makes its debut on Thursdays
* NBC has another installment of Fear Itself. Who knows, maybe this one will be good!
* And finally on USA comes a new Burn Notice

Shows: Burn Notice, Fear Itself, Flashpoint

For a couple of weeks now, USA hit show Burn Notice has been back on our screens. Last year when the show premiered, I watched the first few episodes but didn’t really liked it and stopped watching. This isn’t the only show I simply don’t keep watching after a bit, and I’m sure many of you do the same : after a while, you either don’t like the show enough, or one day you simply miss an episode, wait to watch it from your DVR, and all of a sudden you realize it’s been a few weeks and you didn’t really miss the show.
There’s no real shame, really, there’s quite a lot of shows out there and we only have so little time. But giving shows a second chance is something that might be worth the effort, because just like some shows go downhill after a few seasons, for others it may take a few months or even a full season to get everything in place, find its voice and become actually/really good.

Shows: Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Psych
By fred | July 14, 2008
We’ve already talked about the numbers for Thursday night, but not on cable. But the fact and the matter is, a cable network series did pretty well on the beloved 18-49 demo !
USA’s summer-hit Burn Notice was back for a second season, and its premiere episode averaged a 1.8 rating on the demo, and 5.4 million viewers. That’s a 35% gain in viewers (20% in the demo) compared to the series premiere last summer.
Not only that, but the show was right below ABC’s Hopkins in viewers (5.5 million), beating both NBC’s Last Comic Standing and CBS’ Swingtown ! And on the demo, Burn Notice was also on the second spot, this time behind only Last Comic Standing (2.2), beating again ABC and CBS.
Burn Notice scored a 2.2 on the 25-54, the second best score for a scripted cable series telecast in 2008, behind only the winter finale of another USA series, Monk, back in February (2.5)

Shows: Burn Notice

One big week coming up - well, considering how slow things have been lately that is - with the premiere of HBO’s miniseries Generation Kill tonight at 9.00, the return of TNT’s The Closer & Saving Grace on Monday, a new series, The Cleaner, on A&E on Tuesday, and of course the season premiere of summer hit-comedy Psych on USA !! (And also, before it, Monk)
Generation Kill is a seven-parts miniseries based on Evan Wright’s book of the same name about his experiences as an embedded reporter with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion during the Iraq war’s first phase in 2003. Wright worked on a consultant on the show.
The Cleaner is a new series inspired by the true story of a real-life “extreme interventionist”. The show stars Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order) as William “The Cleaner” Banks, who, after hitting rock-bottom from his own addictions after the birth of his daughter, has now gathered an unconventional team with whom he helps people get away from their addictions by any means necessary.
There should be enough to please everyone, as for myself I can’t wait for Friday and a new episode of Psych ! Of course in the mean time, we got plenty to chew :

Yes, you’ve probably heard about it, it’s quite difficult not to have heard about it in fact : tonight on USA premieres the second season of their summer hit Burn Notice. If you’ve never watched the show, I’ll echo what Jeffrey Donovan said about the show : it’s “a summer show, there’s nothing else on, it’s got action and there are some pretty hot women on the show“.
What what’s the problem ? Just tune in at 10.00 on USA and enjoy!
But over at NBC, not everyone is happy about this. Someone who works for Late Night, Aaron Bleyaert, exploded on Late Night Insider because he couldn’t stand it anymore. Well, it’s nothing against the show really, in fact he thought “it was a pretty awesome show. It was smart. It was funny. It was action packed. It had the totally awecellent and hilarious Bruce Campbell“, which doesn’t sound that bad to me, does it?

Shows: Burn Notice

Time to head into one week, and since we’re now in July we can already see some new additions as well ! Nothing that really gets me excited so far, but I’m sure many of you will be excited over the return of what was described as “a summer show, there’s nothing else on, it’s got action and there are some pretty hot women on the show by star Jeffrey Donovan himself.
That’s right, while there won’t be no new episode of Fear Itself this Thursday on NBC, it’s not a problem because all you have to do is switch to USA to see the season premiere of Burn Notice !

And now the list for Best Supporting Drama Actress is out, and I’ll say that there are two big names I’m shocked not to see on that list, because I felt they should be actual nominees for the award : the first one is Sarah Shahi, from NBC’s Life. She’s been quite amazing the entire season opposing Damian Lewis, and I’m really shocked not to see her here. I guess it was to do with Life not getting lots of press somehow, even though it was simply the best new series of the season, hands down.
Well, I surely hope Damian Lewis won’t be overlooked either, because he is too doing some amazing job !
The second name I’m shocked not to see here is Mia Wasikowska, known as Sophie on HBO’s daily series In Treatment ! She was nothing but amazing, and I cannot believe she’s not on that list ! Eben more shocking to me, Dianne Wiest, from In Treatment as well, is. It’s not that she was bad, but I honestly feel Mia Wasikowska deserves the nomination a lot more, but I guess her name wasn’t known enough… what a bunch of crap!
