Moonlight and Invasion back on Sci-Fi !

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | November 6, 2008

MoonlightDon’t get your hopes up though, chances are you’ve already seen it all.

Yeah, sorry… nothing new coming up, but if you missed the show during its original airing on CBS, or just want to see the show again because your DVR blew up or something, you’ll be happy to know Sci-Fi will be airing repeats of two series canceled before coming to any resolution.

Repeats of ABC drama Invasion - which never had an ending - will start on Sci-Fi Friday, January 23rd at 8.00 followed by repeats of CBS vampire romance Moonlight at 9.00, and leading into Battlestar Galactica at 10.00

The 60th Emmy Winners

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | September 22, 2008

EmmyAlright, so time to talk about the Emmy and who actually won I guess.

But first off, if you missed it or just because it’s so great you can never have enough of it, make sure to watch (again) Ricky Gervais & Steve Carell at the Emmys.

Right then, so let’s not waste any time and dive into it (in italic were my own votes, in bold are the winners) :

The Official Emmy Nominations

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 17, 2008

EmmyThere’s been much talk and then some about those nominations, as the top10 finalists lists have been made public, or find a way to the public eyes. But now speculations are over as the official nominees were announced by Patrick Harris and Kristen Chenoweth - both nominated by the way.

What to say ? Not many surprises, even with things that went wrong and the misses here and there. Not much love for The Wire, I think more was expected, but it’s a general trend : cable networks are kicking in with style (AMC, FX, etc) and HBO is really lacking some great hits nowadays. Sure, The Wire is still around, and Entourage hasn’t been forgotten despite being away for so long, plus the “experimental” In Treatment was noticed, but it’s not like they had a The Sopranos or Sex And The City anyways…

Emmy: Best Drama Actor/Actress Semi-Finalists

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | July 2, 2008

Breaking BadWell, today we have even more Emmy talk to do, as the semi-finalists for Best Drama Actor and Best Drama Actress are out. Well, it’s not really official but sources are trusted. Some good choices have been made, but there are a few names missing as well, sadly.

I’m happy to see Bryan Cranston, terrific on Breaking Bad, or Gabriel Byrne, amazing on In Treatment, on the list, and of course it’s great to see Hugh Laurie (House) there, even though the Academy never bothered giving the guy an award so far. At least it helps a bit swallowing the absence of Robert Sean Leonard as Supporting Drama Actor.

However, I’m really sad not to see Damian Lewis on that list, not just because I feel Life was the greatest new show last season, but because he was delivering one Hell of a performance, in a pure terrific British tradition, as initiated by Hugh Laurie. And, really, Patrick Dempsey ?? Okay he’s McDreamy and all, but really?? James Spader ?? Oh come one people… Matthew Fox on Lost way also way better!

The 34th Annual Saturn Awards: Winners

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | June 25, 2008

Saturn AwardBack in February the nominees were announced, and Lost was leading nominations receiving no less than 8 nominations. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films made the winner known, and the ABC hit-drama is now leading again, taking home half of those awards, including the much-deserved Best Network Television Series award. And other than the award for Best Actress on Television, I’m pretty happy with the results.

Here’s how it goes (in italic my votes back from February 21st, in bold the winners) :

Must Read: Showrunners talking about the strike, DVR increase, reality TV, and of course the Emmys

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | June 4, 2008

Damon Lindelof, Bryan Fuller, David Shore, Craig Thomas and Matthew WeinerNow that the season is over, everyone will be tempted to have a look back at everything that happened and how things worked out. And it was a pretty special season, especially with that big writers’ strike right in the middle changing a lot of things.

As the Emmy are coming up, The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd brought together five of television’s most stalwart showrunners and had them to talk about a bit of everything, from their strike to FCC fines to the rise of reality TV and more. And just as their shows are must-see TV, this is a must-read piece. I can’t recommend you enough to read this, especially if you happen to love some or all of their shows.

And, to make it easier you can start by watching a little video of their chat to get in the mood. Around the table were found Bryan Fuller (ABC’s Pushing Daisies), David Shore (Fox’s House), Damon Lindelof (ABC’s Lost), Matthew Weiner (AMC’s Mad Men) and Craig Thomas (CBS’ How I Met Your Mother).

This Week On TV

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | June 1, 2008

No need to go over what’s on TV every night now, because there’s isn’t much. So again, instead we’ll go over what’s on during the entire week ahead of us. There isn’t much, but already we have three new series premiering this week, and hopefully at least one of them will turn out to be good. A few words about them before the schedule…

* This very Sunday on USA premieres In Plain Sight. I don’t know much about this show, except that it stars Mary McCormack (The West Wing) as Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program (WITSEC) who relocates Federal Witnesses. I don’t know if it’s gonna be any good, but at least this isn’t yet another show where the main character has some “ability” that helps him/her solve crime, so (s)he will be doing so/helping the police somehow, like so many of USA series, and I’d say about 90% of their upcoming projects as well with any “luck”…

Saturn Awards Nominations

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 21, 2008

Saturn AwardSaturn Awards Nominations have been announced, and it looks like there’s a general feeling that they got things right, as Lost is leading nominations receiving no less than 8 nominations. Much deserved, given how this season is nothing less but amazing!

Let’s also mention a couple of nominations for NBC’s canceled-too-soon Journeyman, starting with one for Best Network TV Series, and no less than 3 nominations for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Doesn’t mean they got it all right though, because to give 5 nominations to Heroes sounds really wrong, to give it a nomination for Best Network TV Series is complete bullshit!
