Always more lists of candidates for a nominations for an Emmy are being released, one way or another, and so here’s the latest. Starting with guest actress in comedy series, and - Thank God! - no sign of Spears or the likes. Surprisingly though, the delightful Sarah Chalke isn’t on the list, which I believe is a real shame. It’s not new, How I Met Your Mother always gets snubbed, sadly.
Funny thing though : Sarah Silverman is already on the list for Best Comedy Actress, and she’s also here for her guest appearance on Monk. I didn’t find her performance here to be that good, but then again I find Monk to be really not a very good show…
This season 30 Rock proved to be quite good when it comes to guest stars, and it shows : on the list of 11 possible nominees, we find no less than 3 names from the sitcom, same as Desperate Housewives, except that - at least according to me - the ones from 30 Rock should be amongst the five official nominees.

(This week we look back at how each of the main networks handled things this past season, as well as looking at how things are looking up for the coming one. Agree ? Disagree ? Share your thoughts and grade networks in the comments below…)
The Good
Fox wasn’t stupid enough to air only the first quarter of an unfinished season of 24, but decided not to air it until they could really/fully air it. Probably pushed by the strike, but they have also given their chances to new series like New Amsterdam or Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and of course they renewed the later, because we all want more Glaubot!

Just another Wednesday in the land of television. Last night American Idol was on, Fox was a clear winner both in viewers as well as on the demo. CBS was a good second, while others were not performing as well (though not doing too bad on the demo). Yeah, what else is new?
At 8.00 the most-watched program was Deal Or No Deal on NBC, with 7.7 million viewers. It doesn’t look good, yet it’s 100 000 more viewers than last week. After that the most interesting thing is probably that Back To You had 1.1 million more viewers at 8.30 than lead-in Til Death half an hour before, and it performed better on the demo as well (2.5 vs 2.2) Yet, the former has been canceled while the later will come back next season…

The new schedule for Fox is now official, and there’s not much to say : canceling everything new but Terminator, their additions are for the most part the two most-awaited (sci-fi) series of the season, JJ Abrams’ Fringe, and Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse - the later being reserved for mid-season.
Being Fox, they don’t really care about the shows or giving an opportunity for viewers to easily remember when they are or create some nice pairs, shows keep moving all over the place between fall and winter schedule, and I’m not sure there’s really any logic there.
Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!

The upfronts are coming, and pretty much all networks will announce which shows they have canceled, which they have renewed and which new ones they picked up. Even NBC is planned to make some Late Night announcement, probably that Jimmy Fallon (SNL) will take over Conan O’Brien in 2009 when he takes overs The Tonight Show as Jay Leno goes, well, we don’t know what Leno will do yet.
But many rumors are out already, from the renewal of Boston Legal thanks to the effort of creator David E. Kelley to the unsurprising cancellation of New Amsterdam, and a possible new home for Back To You.

You know it’s coming. For a while there was nothing on TV, because of the strike, and then some shows came back!
They didn’t all came back, and most of those - pretty much all of those - which did, unfortunately didn’t came back with many episodes, obviously. A few shows have already had the season finale (30 Rock, Scrubs…) and many many more are coming. Pretty much every show is ending its season this week or the next.
And here’s the full list of which shows you’ll have to say goodbye to this week :

We might be right in the middle of the May Sweeps, but that doesn’t mean there are more good stuff on, nor does it mean that more people are watching. This season has been seriously hurt by the strike, and I think it clearly shows. So when you hear that the AMPTP are pulling the same crap again, walking out of negotiations with the SAG and pretty much daring them to strike, you have to wonder : do they even want to have viewers ?
At 8.00 it was pretty much a tie between Deal Or No Deal on NBC and The Price Is Right on CBS both about 7.6 million viewers, though NBC won on the demo (not by much). The fact that those two shows were the most watch programs of the slot is already bad enough, but to see that the number one show on the demo was on ABC, Wife Swap, with 7.0 million viewers and a 2.5 on the demo, well…
Back To You usually does better but it was down this week from a 2.5 to 2.0, while loosing 100 000 viewers.

Fox had a little less viewers than past Wednesdays, but once again they had another hour of American Idol, and so won the night in viewers as well as on the demo. Meanwhile CBS was back after a bunch of reruns last week, with 300 000 less viewers and performing quite less on the demo (down from 3.2 two weeks ago to 2.7 now)
At 8.00 things started slow, the most-watched program of the hour being Deal Or No Deal with 8.0 million viewers. One million less viewers but somehow quite better on the demo was Back To You at 8.30 with a 2.5, which was a pretty good growth from lead-in with 1.5 million less viewers and a 2.0 on the demo.
