Parents Television Council (PTC) is one of those organization obsessing with stupid things and thinking it’s the end of the world when a breast appears during the Superbowl or shit like that. Recently, they released a new study - hilariously called “HAPPILY NEVER AFTER - How Hollywood Favors Adultery and Promiscuity Over Marital Intimacy on Prime Time Broadcast Television” - which could be sum up like that : There isn’t enough sex on TV.
Okay, marital sex, to be precise. Still, we need more sex on TV is their point, I think.
But really, such studies are a complete waste of time & money in my opinion, and it’s not this latest one that’s gonna help things. Many things are wrong with it, and I won’t go over everything because I don’t really feel like wasting my time or yours on this, but I just want to address a couple of things, still, because it’s like the kind of shit it’s so stupid it’s funny.

Last Sunday was a Sunday of finale, reruns, and Country Music. And the winner is… the housewives ! The two-hour finale put ABC on top of the night, winner in total viewers as well as on the demo, where it was way ahead of any competition.
At 8.00 CBS actually had the lead with the Academy of Country Music Awards and 11.4 million viewers, only 200 000 more viewers than for Extreme Makeover, which did much better on the demo (3.8 vs 2.7) For their season finale The Simpsons did pretty much as last week, with 6.1 million viewers and 2.9 on the demo. King Of The Hill had a little bump, to 5.4 million viewers and 2.6 on the demo.

It started last week, and it there’s no way to stop it : it will continue this week too. Last week quite a few shows have already disappeared from our screens, until next season or forever, and that was only the beginning. This week we go at it again, and basically every show on this week is having its finale.
So if you haven’t said goodbye to your favorite show this season, you will this week. Unless we’re talking about Lost of course : no Lost this week, we have to wait one more week before having the two last hours of this fantastic season.
Here’s the full list of shows ending (their season) this week :

The new schedule for The CW is now official, and there’s not a lot to be happy about, really. President of Entertainment for The CW Dawn Ostroff commented it saying: “With shows that everyone is talking about, from Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model to our upcoming 90210, our new lineup has the best Monday-Friday schedule flow we have ever had at The CW.”
Right, sure. I guess someone should really take the time to let Ostroff know that having shows most people talk about doesn’t mean shit, just go ask NBC about Bionic Woman, most talked about show last season, incredible buzz, total crap and complete failure. The CW is not one of the big boys, and instead of trying to do whatever it is they do, they should try to please their viewers and bring them quality content for a chance…
Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!

Well, interesting Sunday I guess. CBS had nothing but Survivor on, and that did well since it won the night, with 300 000 more viewers overnight than ABC, a close second and winner on the demo thanks to a new Desperate Housewives and a strong season finale from Brothers & Sisters. In other news, NBC must be glad they did what they did…
On Sundays they used to air episodes of Monk and Psych, shows which have already aired on USA Network. But the results weren’t too good, so they stopped and instead put two hours of reruns of The Office. In other words, they don’t really try on Sundays, and it shows : with 2.6 million viewers and a 0.9 on the demo, reruns of The Office performed much less than the USA shows used to, both in viewers and on the demo (last week from 8.00 to 10.00, Monk and Psych averaged 3.9 million viewers and 1.0 on the demo).

Well the good news keep flooding in : recently we learned that ABC had renewed Eli Stone for a second season - though, of course, nothing completely official until the upfronts - and in the same way it seems clear now that The CW will announce that Reaper has been picked up for a second season !!
Another great news, one that only makes sense, because much like Eli Stone, Reaper isn’t just a great show (and pretty hilarious as well) but it has constantly been improving over time, delivering some of its best episodes so far in the past few weeks. I couldn’t be happier to know that it will come back, and here’s to hoping that next season we’ll get a night uniting Reaper and Supernatural !

The writers’ strike has had an impact on television and many shows. Yes, all main hits like CSI, Grey’s Anatomy or House are back and doing well, but they’re just not doing as well as they used to a few months ago, before that whole mess. It could be the weather, for some it could be the new time slots, but chances are the strike had a part to play in this, whether it just drove people away from TV, and allowed them to realize they didn’t actually miss that show they used to watch religiously and thought they couldn’t live without.
But according to The Hollywood Reporter’s James Hibberd, it might be a win for some shows, because since even the big hits don’t do as well as before, networks might be inclined to give second chances to more shows than they would have otherwise. So, is your favorite show on the list of the shows on the bubble likely to be renewed, or are you still screwed ?

So, Sunday night went by pretty much exactly as last week, despite a few little changes here and there. ABC was a clear winner of the night, both in total viewers as well as on the demo, all that with Desperate Housewives most-watched program of the night. Nothing you couldn’t have seen coming.
At 8.00 things were a bit different for CBS, having the season finale of Cold Case one hour earlier than the show usually comes in. It didn’t make much difference when it comes to viewers, but the show performed quite less on the demo (2.4 vs 2.7 last week). Meanwhile on ABC, Extreme Makeover only lost 500 000 viewers compared to last week, yet performed better on the demo pulling out a 4.1 this week (3.9 last week)
