(This week we look back at how each of the main networks handled things this past season, as well as looking at how things are looking up for the coming one. Agree ? Disagree ? Share your thoughts and grade networks in the comments below…)
The Good
This season ABC showed to be understanding of the situation, and decided to give a real chance to new series that had proven to be of quality, renewing Pushing Daisies, of course, but also Eli Stone or Dirty Sexy Money. And while I have mixed feelings over their treatment of Lost, overall it played out very nicely, offering us the best season to date and a fantastic 3-hour season finale ! Way to go.

Last night Fox was up, with 1.9 million more viewers overnight, while ABC was down by 2.6 million passing below the 10 million viewers. That’s what happens when you replace Dancing With The Stars by According To Jim !
At 8.00 as said there was a little less competition, so American Idol was up by 2.7 million viewers reaching 24 million viewers, while NCIS was up to 900 000 viewers with 14.7 million viewers. Then it was According To Jim (two new episodes) around 4.5 million viewers, while Most Outrageous Moments on NBC (one new, one rerun) had 4.1 million viewers.

The new schedule for ABC is now official, and truth be told it looks very much like the old one, that that’s by design. As McPherson said, “We’re returning our dominant core group of shows from last fall. The few openings we had we’ve filled with the kind of quality programming viewers have come to expect from ABC, and we have a very strong bench.”
Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!

American Idol was on last night, and as always that was enough to make Fox winner of the night, both in total viewers and on the demo. Fox was really ahead of everyone, and while CBS managed to averaged over 10 million viewers, Fox still had 7.6 million more viewers. Not to mention the demo, where ABC and CBS and NBC all together don’t even beat Fox and their 7.1 !
At 8.00 you know where 24.4 million people had their eyes on, while NCIS did about the same as last week, holding 14.6 million viewers and a 3.0 on the demo. Other than that, nothing really worth talking about…

* Quite a few things on this Tuesday, yet again not so much that I watch…
* At 8.00 on ABC there’s a new According To Jim
* While on CBS it’s a new NCIS
* Also, The CW has a new episode of Beauty And The Geek which rumor has it may be in its last season, and that can only make sense…
* At 9.00 some good stuff, since the Devil is back on The CW for a new Reaper. Great show, really, more people should watch it, and The CW should stop being stupid and renew it already!
* Also at 9.00 there’s a new episode of Shark on CBS. I don’t know, I guess people watch this show for some reason…
* At 10.00 on ABC it’s the return of Women’s Murder Club
* On NBC it’s time for a new Law & Order: SVU
* And on FX, due to the strike, it’s already the season finale for The Riches !

Last night American Idol was on, and that was enough for Fox to win the night. One hour later ABC had Dancing With The Stars, so they were a good second, while after that no network average 9 million viewers. Let’s note anyway that, except for The CW, every networks average over 2.0 on the demo.
At 8.00 Idol had 24 million viewers, but that didn’t prevent NCIS to resist, with 10 million less viewers. After that, no one could beat 4.3 million viewers (According To Jim) or 1.6 on the demo (Best Of Saturday Night Live), impressive isn’t it?

Last night was nothing new : American Idol on Fox, and Fox won the night, both in total viewers and on the demo.
At 8.00 23 millions viewers were watching Fox, while NCIS hold strong once again with 14.9 million viewers, though a much lower score on the demo (3.1 vs 8.6) In fact, The Biggest Loser on NBC might not have reached 10 million viewers (9.5 million) but it did better on the demo (3.6)
According To Jim was back with new episodes, and couldn’t reach 4 million viewers, with that and only 1.3 on the demo I can see why ABC wants to renew it…
