Unhitched: Pilot

Unhitched(S01E01) So as announced last night, this Sunday on Fox premiered a new sitcom produced by no other than the Farrelly Brothers (There’s Something About Mary), who also directed this episode. And when I talked about it last night, I had only seen a couple of promo clips released by Fox, trying to make us want to watch the show. Sadly, though, those were absolutely horrible and unfunny. Which, for a sitcom, is like the worst thing possible ever.

Yet I went into this one with an open mind, ready and willing to enjoy it, should it be any good. I was hoping that maybe it was just that a bunch of morons over at Fox decided to select a few clips from when the show is not working, when it’s anything but funny, and to use such moments as promo clips because, well, they’re morons. This sounds like a very improbable scenario, it really does, and after watching the episode I think that I can say it : Fox people are morons.

Unhitched: Woman Marries Horse

Unhitched(S01E02) Before this new Fox comedy from the Farrelly Brothers came to our screens, and based only a a couple of promo clips, I wasn’t too optimistic about this one. But last week I did watched the sitcom, hoping to get surprised, and I was. I was actually surprised because the episode wasn’t as bad as I feared, in fact it even made me laugh a few times and I thought it had potential to become a pretty funny show.

So here we are, with the second episode and our hopes to see it grow into something more, something better & funnier than what the pilot was. It’s only the second episode, but it can already be an indication as what to expect for the future of this show…

Unhitched: Conjoined Twins Pitch No-Hitter

Unhitched(S01E03) So far I’ve had mixed feelings about this new sitcom. Quite a few things I didn’t like so much, but others had me rolling on the floor ! So there’s some pretty good stuff in there, and there’s room for improvement. This is already a much better thing that can be said about other new sitcoms, yes I’m thinking of The Return Of Jezebel James for instance, which had not one thing funny in it so you have to wonder, can it really improve with time - and will it ever have time, especially on Fox.

But for this new comedy produced by the Farrelly Brothers there’s reason to hope, and more than that there’s already reason to tune in each week. So I was glad to get to watch a new episode of this show, curious to see whether it would be better, worst, or just about the same as previous episodes. Especially since after being surprised to like the first episode a lot more than I expected to, the last one was pretty bad.

Unhitched: Mardi Gras Croc Attack

Unhitched(S01E04) We have been having to face with a lot of new sitcoms this season, a lot of very awful and unfunny ones at that. Turns out that making people laugh for about 20 minutes isn’t is easy a task as it looks. And with this new show, as I said yesterday before watching this week’s episodes, I said that - unlike others - this show was actually funny, maybe not always but it had its moments, and it had potential.

I said that before, and now that I’ve seen this new episode suddenly I’m not so sure anymore. It’s not that this episode was particularly bad or anything, it’s more that it wasn’t really good…

Unhitched: Yorkshire Terrier Sucked Into The Internet

Unhitched(S01E05) Another episode in, and I stand by what I said about the previous episode. We had two episodes this week, and this one was episode 5, out of only 6 that were completed before the writers’ strike. That means that next Sunday will be the last completed episode, and last episode of the first season on Unhitched since no new episodes will be added this season.

The numbers haven’t been that good, and for a reason : the show had never been that funny. As I said in my last review, this show had potential at first, but never tried to actually use it and improve, instead they stayed where they were and never even tried to got better. As a result, I’m pretty sure it won’t be renewed and quite frankly I won’t miss it…

Unhitched: Pole-Dancing Toddler

(S01E06) Last night was only the sixth episode of new sitcom Unhitched, but with the strike and all, it was already the season finale. For sure that was a really brief season, and sadly it never did do so well so it could very well turn out to be a series finale as well. No official word yet from Fox on whether the show has been canceled or renewed, but the odds are more for the former sadly.

Anyhow, this was the last episode for this season at least, and while the show is still flawed in every way it has been ever since the very first episode, after watching this episode I would say that this was probably the funniest episode of all. I won’t say the best, because it is highly flawed and it prevents me from really having a good time for the full half hour, but I laughed a few times, for sure.
