It’s like a tradition, every week-end I try to clean my DVR of most of the shows I couldn’t watch during the week. I’ll confess that there’s a few new series I still haven’t given a try, some returning ones I’m also recording and recording only, and I still have not watched everything I have to watch. On my list is the last episode of Supernatural for example, which I still haven’t got a chance to see.
But let’s talk about what’s done, the good and the bad, and it includes 30 Rock, Criminal Minds, My Name Is Earl and I also - finally - get to talk about the most talk-about and adored by critic Pushing Daisies.

(S01E04) Don’t get me wrong, I do like this show very much. I think it is really well made and offers a nice hour of “entertainment”. That being said, and while it seems many people, critics and regular viewers, are absolutely in love with Pushing Daisies, I am not.
Recently the series got picked up by ABC and received its full season order, a news that I too see as a good news. (Now if only NBC could do the same for Life…) But when I heard that news, I also talked about the (not so) little things that started to worry me about the show.
Well, not so little they were! I’m actually finding myself not enjoying this lovely series as much as many others it seems, and as much as I used to, because of those “little things”.

(S01E05) Last week I talked about those “little” reasons that had me not able to enjoy the show as much as many others seems to, or as I first used to. I’ve always liked that show and despite last week’s episode and it’s awful lot of “problems”, I still liked the show overall.
Amongst those were things that affected the show as a whole, and others that were (probably) valid for that episode only. Either way, it’s fair to say I did not enjoyed the episode so much. Which probably also played its part in my feeling towards this week’s new episode, as I still had all those somewhere in the back of my mind, along with the disappointment I felt.

(S01E06) Sure, I did have had a few “complaints” about this show and the way they went, or some of the decisions they made, because a few are annoying me quite a lot and they really scream inconsistency, in one way or another. With that being said, I’ve never stopped liking this lovely pie and I do tune in each week with a smile on my face.
This is really a sweet little show we got ourselves here, and it really is a shame to have its first season cut down to so little episodes because studios still somehow refuse to give the writers what they deserved. I don’t think anyone would have wanted less than 22 pies for this season, but we’ll have to settle with nine, I suppose.

Shows: Pushing Daisies
In Series: Pushing Daisies Season 1

(S01E07) It’s Thanksgiving week and as a result many shows just vanished, because in those times of strike networks are not willing to burn new episodes too fast, especially when chances are there will be less viewers than usual. And despite having no more than three episodes left, ABC still decided to offer us a fresh new pie this week, and I am really thankful for that.
While it is not my personal favorite new series of the season (Life beat it to it), Pushing Daisies is without a doubt a very nice new series and the sweetest one of all. I may not like everything about it, but I sure love most of it - and overall I really do enjoy it every time.

Shows: Pushing Daisies
In Series: Pushing Daisies Season 1

(S01E08) This ongoing writers’ strike is really starting to bite us, or at least me. No, this wasn’t the last episode of Pushing Daisies we’ll see before that too long and indefinite hiatus due to the strike, ABC still has one more episode in store for us, but that’s just enough to have me realize how hard things are going to be. Because it’s not one show we’ll miss, it’s more or less all of them.
And I sure do love myself some pie, especially those made out of dead fruits. This was one again a very sweet and highly enjoyable hour of television, it’s no wonder why this show is getting so much love from so many viewers out there, that loves comes right from the show itself.

Shows: Pushing Daisies
In Series: Pushing Daisies Season 1

(S01E09) After watching this episode of Pushing Daisies, I feel sadness filling in my heart, as I realize this was the last one I’ll get to see for quite a long time. A long and still undetermined amount of time to go without any new sweet pies. Because of the strike, and given how things really don’t look like they’re going to get any better soon, sadly, this episode might very well be the season finale, and God knows when we’ll get to see the pie maker and his dead girl again.
And oddly enough, this episode was too filled was sadness, though for different reasons. Despite an opening scene highly colorful and filled with joy and laughs, it wasn’t long until the mood changed. Remember the cliffhanger we were left on, last week, after the pie maker simply confessed to Chuck ? Were you, too, dying to see how she’d react to it ? Because I sure as Hell was.
