Psych returns, singing

(S02E01) It did, and before I talk about this episode, let me rewind a little bit and talk about the first season. I started watching it, but after roughly a little dozen of episodes (maybe a little more) I just stopped. Show wasn’t really good.

PsychThen - for no apparent reason - I watched one of the latest episodes of the season, and I was a little surprised, because the show was actually better than it used to be. It had improve over time, and that’s why I decided to watch it again when it premiered for a new season.

And I haven’t been disappointed. The show indeed feels better that it used to back on the first season, it has improved, no doubts. But, it still is far from being perfect, or even just good.
It still comes with a lot of flaws. Some very irritating ones.

When Psych is good, it’s really good!

Psych(S02E02) Alright, I have to admit, sometimes a somewhat bad show gets good. Sometimes, a show already good show gets better. I’m not sure which case is best, but there’s one thing for sure : either way nothing feels better to watch a show improve.

And Psych did that, big time. I’ve said it before, I started watching the first season but stopped back then cause the show wasn’t really good. And quite annoying. But as proven by this season premiere, and now confirmed with this new episode, the show got much better : it is now a good show, a pretty damn good one in fact.

Psych: Psy vs. Psy

Psych(S02E03) Well, the good signs from the past weeks are confirmed, Psych is now a good and very enjoyable show, much better than it used to be when it started. And despite not being as great an episode as last weeks, this was yet another great one.

One again during this episode Shawn and Gus didn’t have it all easy, they had to work hard to prove themselves. Last time they weren’t in any “danger”, but Lassiter and Juliet were always right behind them, if not ahead! They had to work hard to show they were still master of the games.
This time, their abilities were directly questioned!

Psych, naked and unashamed!

Psych(S02E04) As I keep watching this new season i realize something : while the show has clearly evolved from its debut, and turned into a better one, I don’t think it had improved as much as I first thought it had.

Don’t get me wrong though, this season is much better than the first one, and the show seems to keep on evolving instead of being stuck into their place as others might. But I have also been influenced by something that I’ve now realized : the second episode of this new season and its dinosaur mystery, was clearly one of a kind, and I believe the best episode of the show (yet).

Psych: And Down The Stretch Comes Murder

Psych(S02E05) The more I watch this new season of Psych the more I like the show. It really has evolved from the first season, and it keeps evolving nicely too. And while once in a while there’s an episode I don’t like so much, because it has a few reminders of what it used to be back in its first season, this one wasn’t anywhere near there.

Quite the opposite in fact, I loved this episode, plain and simple. This is exactly the kind of episodes they need to keep coming up with, it was great, and damn funny too.

Psych: Meat is Murder, But Murder is Also Murder

Psych(S02E06) Alright, took me a while to finally watch it, but here we go. And one again, Psych delivered a great episode, which was both pretty funny and had a good mystery. And to keep up with the new tradition of the season, the whole “psychic” thing wasn’t just Shawn making his show having no trouble or challenge whatsoever. No, again there was a new twist.

Not only does it make things different and more interesting, but with this time’s twist it was a damn funny new turn in the whole psychic part of the show we got to witness. The new light shed on their relationship and dynamic introduced in this episode was a great thing, and adding to that the self criticism writers used on the show, having Shawn pretty much making fun of his own ways, was a very nice touch.

Psych: If You’re So Smart, Then Why Are You Dead?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | August 26, 2007

Psych(S02E07) Another pretty great episode of Psych, and to keep up with the “tradition” initiated in previous episodes, Shawn’s abilities were once again put into question. Only this time it wasn’t as before that his abilities weren’t needed anymore, for some reason or another, it was “worse” : people were questioning whether or not Shawn actually had any ability in the first place !

Although, to be honest, this isn’t the first time it happens. Remember earlier on, when another “psych” was working with the police, FBI in fact, she also claimed to knew he was “fake” and that she’d “out” him. Thankfully for our guys, it took place the other way around.

This time was quite different though.

Psych: Rob-a-Bye Baby

Psych(S02E08) So… what to say about this week’s episode of Psych ? It was very… interesting! For sure. The first interesting part about it is that, despite the high level of the episode - which was without a doubt a good one - if I had to make a list of all episodes this season so far, I have the feeling I would put it somewhere on the bottom.

This is pretty unfair, obviously, because the show kept is level up and there was a lot of good things in it. As a matter of fact, let’s start by talking about some of the good things we had during this episode.

Psych: Bounty Hunters!

Psych(S02E09) Well, I hope you didn’t miss this episode of Psych, because your next dose will not come until quite some time. No, the season isn’t over yet, but the show is going on a break regardless. This episode was the last in a while, episode 10 won’t come around before January next year ! (yeah, that far!)

And while the season is not over, there’s one thing I can say for sure already : best season ever. Unless they would suddenly loose all and everything, we’re already there. No wonder USA renewed the show for a third season already. But this is no time to look back on the half-season, let’s review the episode.

Psych: Gus’ Dad May Have Killed An Old Guy

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | December 8, 2007

Psych(S02E10) Well well… we hadn’t had a new episode of this show in a while, and we know have to wait until January 11 to get another one. Why did we get one this Friday ? Because it was a little gift, it was a Christmas special. But the Christmas theme, that was obviously integrated into this episode as well as its opening credits, was far from being the only reason this episode was “special”.

This episode also had a a bunch of other elements to make it stand out, starting obviously with that the title of this episode hint at : we got to meet Gus’ parents ! We already had met members of his family, we already had hints as to how complicated their relationships might be, but I don’t think we ever had the chance to meet them, and now we have.
