(S04E01) Last season, Earl lost his way somewhere… There was prison, then there was coma, and in the end there hadn’t been any attention to the list made for quit some time. I’ve always thought this was a bad idea, because Earl going through his list to honor his deal with Karma was the heart of the show, and because being trapped behind bars or in an hospital bed made for some quite unfunny, or uneven, episodes.
But it was all back on tracks, Earl finally had his list back and money to support it, and this season didn’t waste any time before sending Earl and his brother back to their very special work. And for the occasion, the episode was also filled with lots of known faces, which I’m sure all fans of the show will have loved to see back as well.

Shows: My Name Is Earl
In Series: My Name Is Earl Season 4

Well it might only be the first (big) week of the new season, and not every show is back, but that doesn’t mean DVRs aren’t already getting filled. I wasn’t able to watch everything during the week, there was a few episodes left on my DVR and so here we go.
I finally took the time to watch the second episodes of both My Name Is Earl and Heroes, as well as giving a try to the other new sitcom from CBS, Worst Week. I wasn’t expecting a lot from this, and I ended up being surprised as overall things were better than I was expecting...

Shows: Heroes, My Name Is Earl, Worst Week
In Series: Heroes Season 3, My Name Is Earl Season 4, Worst Week Season 1

(S04E03) Remember last week? A new season and two episodes of My Name Is Earl, none of which I liked very much. They didn’t feel like what the show used to be back when it was good and funny, and even though the second one was better, it still wasn’t really Earl as I had grown to loved it. Maybe it was because Earl wasn’t the central character of the show then, he was stepping down to let somebody else shine.
This time, it was pretty much the case again, and as the title hints we got to see a lot more of Joy than we did last week. But there big difference with last week isn’t just that Earl was still involved, it’s that this time it was like it used to be, it was funny!

Shows: My Name Is Earl
In Series: My Name Is Earl Season 4

(S04E04) And the show continues… as disappointed as I may have been after last week’s two installments of My Name Is Earl, it’s all forgotten now that the show is really back. And it is, as the two episode we got this week were both really funny. I won’t say some of the stories featured were somewhat hard to believe maybe, with a tendency to go in full silliness mode more than once, but who the Hell cares!?
That’s what’s so great about this show, that every character in there is crazy in his own way, that about anything & everything can happen, and usually does. This episode also maybe a more traditional episode than the last ones, as this time it really featured both Earl & Randy working together to cross someone off of Earl’s list.

Shows: My Name Is Earl
In Series: My Name Is Earl Season 4

(S04E05) I wasn’t a fan of the first few episodes of this new season, but it slowly came back to what the show used to be, and about every episode was an improvement over the previous one, getting closer and closer to what the show used to be like and forgetting each time a bit more about the “experimentations” of last season. And this week, as the show was back to the usual one episode a week, I think we reached that point.
That point were, finally, the show is back to what is used to be, without a doubt. This episode felt like it could have been an episode from a couple of seasons back, before the whole mess, an episode very funny with some pretty good bad Earl, with a new Earl working the list, and with a new resident Earl had done wrong absolutely hilarious.

Shows: My Name Is Earl
In Series: My Name Is Earl Season 4

(S04E06) At first this season wasn’t really delivering the bets of what this show can do, it took a few weeks to get there, but it finally made it and last week we had a perfect episode of Earl, just like in the good old days. So much that if I only had one thing to complain about so far this season, it had to be how some of the characters were vastly underused this season, namely Randy and Catalina.
It’s nothing new that some characters aren’t seen (much) on a few episode, but if Joy and Crabman got something to do in about each episode so far this season, even if that meant having them into their own separated story, Catalina and Randy weren’t that lucky, and we didn’t get to see much of them so far. Things were about to change though, for one of them at least…

Shows: My Name Is Earl
In Series: My Name Is Earl Season 4

(S04E07) I have very bad memories of what can happen whenever the writers of My Name Is Earl decide to go down an unexpected road, when they decide to try something different. I’m sure it can actually work, after all that’s probably the category under which you’d fill episodes like the “cops” specials, and those were some good fun – probably because they’re all about the old days, and bad Earl.
But after last season, the prison, the coma and that other sitcom within the sitcom, which left a very bad taste, whenever something goes off track I get bad flashes of boring episodes, I can’t help it. This week, we had an episode that would definitely fall under the “special” category, it wasn’t your usual episode of Earl crossing something off his list by finding back and helping someone, and for a change there were no guests, it was all about the usual folks of Camden.
