Lost: Why it’s NOT a time loop…

LostAhh… Lost, its mysteries, and our theories. Our billions of theories. A little while back, I too used to have theories about the show, and what the Hell was going on there. But quite frankly, I don’t anymore. I don’t, because after my latest theory got proven wrong I was simply unable to find one that would entirely please me.

I never stopped trying, thinking about the show and the how’s and why’s, about what could possibly explain things. And, sure, I still have, on some points, my beliefs of what may or may not be going on, what may or may not be causing whatever is happening, but I don’t have an overall theory, because every time I tried to think of one, it either got proven wrong, or didn’t work, or very simply wasn’t good enough.

But instead of trying to explain what’s happening on the show, instead of once again going over the last season(s) and wondering about the future, I want to do something a little different. The future is near, it’s getting closer every day and there will be plenty to say once we’ll be there, I’m sure.

But today, I want to talk about one of those theory that I’ve had, and that I’m sure billions of you have had as well, and I want to talk about why it’s not good for Lost.

Lost: The Beginning Of The End

Lost(S04E01) Okay, so here we are, at the beginning of the end. Lost was finally back. After eight months of wondering what was going to happen next, after all this time we had to wait before finding out what would happened now that Jack made the call, and Ben warned him that this was a mistake and the beginning of the end, here we are.

And just as you could have expected it, it was awesome. In the pure sense of the word, that was another fantastic episode, and after seeing it you have to think that we’re in for one Hell of a season. Well, half a season, so that sucks, and I have a feeling that those 8 weeks are going to fly by in no time, well, except that I want today to be next Thursday already.

There was a lot, really a lot of things during this episode, there’s plenty of stuff to talk about, I just don’t know where to begin.

Lost: Confirmed Dead

Lost(S04E02) So here we go again, a new episode of Lost. This is definitely the most exciting thing that came from television in a long while ! Every time I get so excited when I’m about to see a new episode, and once I have, there’s no disappointment, far from it. Granted, there’s only been one episode this season, this was only the second one, but it comes after a lot of pretty awesome episodes ending last season.

One thing I want to mention about last week’s episode that I think I forgot : Desmond. I don’t get it, why did he stay with Team Jack ? He was the one who saw Charlie giving his life so he could warn everyone that it was not Penny’s boat, Desmond came back and really wanted to warn everyone, that those people were not who they thought they were, that they lied, that they should not trust them, yet he stayed with Jack. I don’t get it.

Anyways, moving on.

Lost: What do you think of Charlotte ?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 14, 2008

LostNow that we’ve had multiple reports about what will happen to Lost and to this season now that the strike is over, we now how many episodes are coming, when and how, so let’s focus back on what’s important : the show itself.

Tonight is the big night, the night Lost is on, and I can’t wait to see this new episode. But before that, I’ve been willing to mention a few more things about the newcomers to the island, and most specifically one of them, Charlotte, but I’ve failed to do it so far, and if there’s a time to fix this, it’s now or never.

Lost: The Economist

Lost(S04E03) Okay, got a little “distracted” today but I’m finally going over the latest episode of Lost. One thing for sure about this season, is that it will be a very special one, for a lot of reasons. Of course, there’s the strike which had it cut in half and that will result in a slightly shortened season, with a second half a little shorter than firstly imagined.

But also, this time the creative minds behind the show are in a very different position : they know exactly how many episodes are left, for the entire series. And you can tell that they do, and that it had an impact of the show. All those stupid things about Jack’s tattoos are long gone now, now every episode is not only absolutely awesome, but it comes with a lot of answers and development regarding the whole thing.

We might only be three episodes in, but I’m willing to bet this is going to be the best season of the show to date, because if it keeps up that way, there’s no question this season will blow all the others away.

Lost: Another Look At Dan’s Experiment

LostIf you hear people still complaining that Lost is boring, keeps throwing new mysteries to get things more confusing, always brings up new questions never giving out answers, if anyone is still claiming that writers (probably) have no idea what’s actually going on on that Island, it’s not complicated : either they’re basing their opinions on what they last saw of the show, back during season 2 or early season 3, or they’re morons.

Lost has never been as good as it is these days, this season looks like it’s going to be the best one we ever had, and one thing for sure is that we are getting answers. Of course they come with new questions and mysteries, but the feeling is much different when you can feel that they do know the answers, they do know where they’re going with this, and did I mention we keep getting lots of answers ?!!

One major one of those answers, or new questions, came from that little experiment our new friend Dan conducted.

Lost: Eggtown

Lost(S04E04) Holy frigging crap, I love this show! This episode was once again pretty amazing, and it started right away, there was no “Previously on Lost” this time, and honestly I will admit, I kinda missed it. (Usually) I don’t like those “Previously” clips, not for this show but for any show, for every one of them. I just don’t like that, and for Lost things are no different.

Well, only they are. I don’t really care for the actual recap clips, that I don’t like, but there’s one thing I find myself quite fond of, three words I really like to hear. It’s not the words, but the voice, the tone, the way they’re said. Every week I sit down, and when I hear those three word, “Previously, On Lost“, then I know I’m in for another hour of fantastic questions and mind-blowing confusion.

So, yeah, I missed those a little. But I just said them out loud myself, and somehow it worked, I got the same amazing hour I usually get. With me now, make sure to hear it in your head, “Previously…”

Lost: Memory Cards ?

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 29, 2008

LostAlright, so let’s come clean : I know it aired for most of you guys, but I still haven’t watched the last episode of Lost (S04E05) yet. I have not, but I will soon there’s no doubt about it. But before that, there’s something I’ve been willing to talk about for a while now, but sadly I’ve been busy with other things and I failed to do so earlier. (Shame on me.)

But I will do now, so let’s talk a little about Eggtown some more. There was an incredible lot of new questions that were brought up during this episode, but I have a feeling that the one I want to talk about now, the one that obsessed me the most, might not be the most “popular” one. No, what haunted me the most, what I was left endlessly wondering about and would like to mention again is not Aaron, it’s not about when the Hell the trial took place, or about those $3.2 million.

No, it’s about Dan & Charlotte, and their little “cards experiment”…

Lost: The Constant

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | February 29, 2008

Lost(S04E05) Jacob I love this show! Yes I finally seen this new episode, and there’s no question about it : this will be the best season of the show to date. In fact, it already is. And what is so great about Lost and this season, is how they have been able to “reinvent” to show, if not in what it actually is and what happens on the show, nothing needed there, in the way not only things happens about also how the stories are being told.

More than that, writers have now every cards in their hands to create the show and tell the stories they want. They know when it will end, and how long they have to get us there, so they can really plan the entire journey and ensure that we get the most of it, and they’re doing just that.

A simple proof : this episode could have a subtitle that read, simply, “Answers“. Once again we got answers, and we got plenty of them. Once again it focused on nothing but what Lost really is all about, and we had answers in a way we probably never expected to get from this show ! We’d have to be stupid not to realize how great this feels, and how lucky we are, and how awesome this show is.

Lost: Time Travel, Paradoxes, Alternate Timelines, And How Cuse & Lindelof Are Messing With Us…

AddThis Social Bookmark ButtonBy fred | March 6, 2008

LostThe last episode of Lost introduced something that I’m sure many fans suspected, but that no one could be certain of. Now we are, we know there are some time travels going on, and if the idea and the concept itself of time travel isn’t new, and if it may vary from story to story and yes, Lost had a pretty neat way to use it, limiting it to the mind or consciousness of beings and using this idea of a “constant” to allow our brains to survive such travel, there is actually another thing for certain, another constant that comes with every time travel : paradoxes.

You can’t start traveling through time without facing a paradox or two, or plenty more. Lost is no exception, and ever since last Thursday I have to say that something weird has been happening to me : I’ve been ranting about time travel, alternate realities, and how the effects of someone time traveling into the past could affect the future or not, and all kinds of other paradoxes.
