No, this title isn’t random, and does in fact relate to two new shows that premiered on Wednesday : Back To You, and Gossip Girl.
And I want to start with Back To You, the “new” “sitcom” from Fox. Oh yes, if you happened to watch the show, you might have not realized this, so let me tell you : it was a sitcom. Yes, the one as in situation comedy, like a half-hour show that makes you laugh, that one.
I know, I know, it’s hard to believe, that such a shitty “old school” unfunny piece of crap would actually exists in today’s year of 2007. And make it to the air. And on a big network even! I want to throw up.

Shows: Gossip Girl
In Series: Gossip Girl Season 1

So this week was no exception for me, and besides the shows I reviewed here, I did watch a few more things on TV. Including a few more TV shows. Yes, there was still a few more new episodes on, even though not so many people seemed to be aware of that, unfortunately. This week there’s two other shows I watched, and I’d like to talk to talk about a little right here, right now.
So not really DVR Cleaning since I watched at least one of those in time, but who cares ? Those two shows are The Simpsons, and Gossip Girl. And I’ll start with the one I saw most recently, no later than yesterday in fact : The Simpsons.

Shows: Gossip Girl, The Simpsons
In Series: Gossip Girl Season 1

(S01E13) I have mention this new show in the past, and I have even admitted to watching it, an actually enjoying it. Yes, it is true, Gossip Girl has become a little guilty pleasure of mine, I watch it and I do like it ! There, I said it. And things weren’t looking good for this CW show when it first appeared on our screens, because while I remember not disliking the show, I wasn’t really impressed either.
And then quite rapidly they had some pretty bad episodes to offer us, of the worst you could ever think of. Really, at one point I’m sure that, if I didn’t actually do so, I was real close to officially call this show “crap”.
But then, I kept on watching…

(S01E14) You can’t say you didn’t know this was coming. The CW made sure to really promote the return of Gossip Girl, lots of advertising, some OMFG campaign to try to get people curious, they really wanted people to tune in, and not just viewers from the show, but newcomers as well. As I’ve said in the past, I was watching this show before the strike kicked in, and forced to admit that it became a guilty pleasure of mine, so I was going to tune back in, “OMFG” or not.
And I will be honest, I was not expecting this episode to be any better than the ones before, I wasn’t expecting anything mind-blowing or anything just because the network tried to really sell the show, but I was expecting a good episode, I wanted to have a nice hour watching the show, and I was pretty curious to see how B would get back on her feet and get her place back.

Shows: Gossip Girl
In Series: Gossip Girl Season 1

(S01E15) This it the time of the week for gossips. Last week on Gossip Girl, it was all about a new character, a new character we only heard of, by the end. It looked like it would really be something, when after all those years another girl returned to the Upper East Side, after S before her, it was now time for G to come back. We didn’t know much abut her, but she was from Serena’s past so that was promise enough.
Still, it’s easy for a show to create lots of hype and build up to something gigantic, but when it comes down to actually delivering, it’s not always there. This was the big week for Gossip Girl, as we got to finally meet with Georgina. I say “finally”, but we’ve not really been expecting her for that long, about a week ago no one knew of her…

(S01E16) As the promo department for the show would say, OMFG. Gossip Girl is the show that it is, and not everyone will like this kind of show, and that’s fine. And even if you do, you might not like everything about it, find some plots, characters or situations on the show not to your liking. But I think what this episode proved once again, it’s that there is one thing you cannot complain about on this show, it is that nothing happens.
Seriously, so much happened last night, if you actually stop and take a minute to think about it all, you’ll be pretty shocked that the episode only lasted about 42 minutes. In fact, looking back over the last few episodes, the same can be said on a more global thing : can you believe everything that happened simply since the show got back, after the writers’ strike ??

(S01E17) Last week was a pretty dense episode, leaving us hanging as Georgina/Sarah continued to spread her web all over Serena’s life. Of course, leaving a crying Serena into Blair’s arms had us wondering what would happen next and, more importantly, what would Serena said now that she told Blair she “killed someone”. Needless to say I was eager to find out what she said after that “shocking” revelation, although I didn’t believe for one second that she actually did kill someone.
Truth be told, I wasn’t even sure someone had actually died. But that’s not the point, the point is that it seemed once again Serena’s life was about to be destroyed, and ironically enough, once again it was all due to Georgina. Because we might not have seen that tape or know what actually happened, but we knew she was involved, and that girl’s trouble.

(S01E18) Well well well… unlike most freshmen, Gossip Girl did had the opportunity to add new episodes to their first season once the strike was over, which was probably the best choice given how I’m sure many newcomers have already slipped away from the minds of many, and the summer isn’t gonna be any help. Anyways, they could add new episodes, and I think it’s fair to say that it almost feels like the writers didn’t change their plan.
They were going to have a few episodes less, well, so be it! Things would just have to go faster then, and for the past few weeks it seems that this is exactly what happened. So many things going on, all happening so fast, non stop, and you know what ? I think it’s good. You can’t be bored with this show, because even if you were not to like a plot, you simply wouldn’t have time to be bored, there’s too much going on all the time.
