(S02E01) I know I know, last season I kept saying how I didn’t really like this show, and I would probably still say the same today, expect that just like last season I keep watching it, and this time I can’t say it’s for Rachel Bilson. So I guess there must be something else that draws me back to this show, which is probably also part of the reason you and many others do, it’s (kinda) fun.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t really remember where we left off Chuck and everybody else, it’s been so long since a new episode of Chuck that I sorta forgot. But I remembered the premise of the show at least, not that it was required because thanks to a nice little narrative device it was all explain very rapidly at the beginning of the episode, allowing new viewers to jump in and not feel like they were missing something to fully appreciate the show.

Shows: Chuck
In Series: Chuck Season 2

Yeah, I know, this one comes in a bit late, indeed… the week-end is already over with and we’re moving into a brand new week of TV, but I still had a few things on my DVR I hadn’t gone to yet.
I didn’t get a chance to get to it any sooner, sorry about that, but now that I have I thought I would talk about a couple of shows. So let’s not waste any more time and as a new episode is coming in tonight, we’ll begin by having a quick look at last week’s episode of Chuck first; After that we’ll talk about The Sarah Silverman Program.

Shows: Chuck, The Sarah Silverman Program
In Series: Chuck Season 2, The Sarah Silverman Program Season 2

(S02E05) As I said recently, I’m actually liking Chuck more this season. Might be that I’m more willing to accept the unrealistic illogical events that took place on the show, might be that it’s actually gotten better, might be a little bit of both. But in my mind, it’s no question that the show has gotten better, and the best example (for me) of that might be the Buy More plots.
I was never a fan of those, but for the last couple of episodes I think they actually were pretty good. The fact and the matter is, in this episode it was different than what Chuck usually is. This season at Buy More, despite everyone still relying heavily on Chuck and considering him to be the pivotal element that keeps everything together, I think they’ve had to learn to deal without him.

(S02E06) It’s quite a shame that this show isn’t doing better than it does so far this season, because it’s actually a lot of fun. I know I wasn’t the biggest fan of the show last season, but I think things have evolved and this sophomore season is a much better, stronger and funnier one. I never stopped watching the show ever since it premiered last year, but this season - and especially with the past few episodes - I’ve been having lots of fun each time !
Sure, the show is filled with plot holes and you shouldn’t even look too much into the premise of the show and the way things go down, because that’s just the Chuck way and thinking about it will only ruin the fun I think. I mean, we all know that a second intersect won’t give Chuck his life back, but everyone acts like it was the case so you have to play along.

Shows: Chuck
In Series: Chuck Season 2

(S02E07) During the first season there was no doubt that Chuck was into Sarah, but that wasn’t meant to be and, even though she did share those feelings, Sarah always denied it. It took a while for her to admit she cared about Chuck, but it simply couldn’t go anywhere, not with him being the Intersect and her a spy watching over him, so it never happened.
But, that wasn’t without a few scenes where the two got to talk and kiss, and while she remains on her position, this season Sarah clearly shows a lot more interest in Chuck that she used to at first. But she’s only his pretend-girlfriend, a cover for friends of family for some reason, and Chuck got to date someone else, someone real, someone we met last week, Jill.

(S02E08) For a moment there Chuck believed it. He thought he could have a normal life, at least in part, with a normal girlfriend. For a moment he believed it, but as he remarked himself, it seems that about everyone in his life is a secret agent, and I think it would be fair to assume than anyone he knew back from his days at Standford has indeed become one, good or evil.
I mean let’s face it, Bryce is was, Jill is one, and even Chuck himself came this close to become one at the time. If you happen to have friends who went there as well for dinner, it means you might be having some CIA secret spy at your table.
At first, Jill was just the regular girl, ex-girlfriend of Chuck who broke her heart and went to Bryce, as they all do.

(S02E09) After all the trouble he went through when his ex-girlfriend Jill showed up, I think it was expected that Chuck would get - or ask for - some time to cool off and deal with his feelings. Of course he’s still the Intersect and all, but he doesn’t have to be at the center of absolutely everything that happens every week, does he? What wasn’t expected was all the treats we had during the course of this episode.
Because it had a lot to offer, when you look at it, which is why it was so surprising that it wasn’t better. I wouldn’t say this episode was any bad, it wasn’t, but I’m still trying to decide if it was as good as the previous ones we got, which does mean it wasn’t, really, it wasn’t as great as it could or should have been, and that maybe why it was a little disappointing.

Shows: Chuck

(S02E10) As often is the case in an episode of Chuck, there were two stories going on at once. One involve spy stuff, and the other was set in Buymoria. The former usually eats up more screen time since, well, this is pretty much the whole idea of the show, while the later usually finds a way to cross path with the former. If this week was no different and the real stuff were in the spy world, I want to start by mentioning Buymoria.
As always we had some pretty cool stuff going on there, some also creepy thanks to Jeff, we can always count on him for creepy stuff, but we also had a pretty big answer to a burning question. Well, at least it was a question of mine and something that was almost driving me crazy, even though it probably wasn’t supposed to and didn’t feel like being any sort of answer, reveal or anything.

Shows: Chuck
In Series: Chuck Season 2

(S02E11) I don’t know if my expectations for this episode were particularly high, given that it is both the Christmas special and the last episode in a while (until February 2009!), or if I had gotten used to the high quality of previous episodes which have been among the best of the entire series so far, but while, looking back at it, this was certainly a good episode, I have to admit that I was yet quite underwhelmed.
It’s probably unfair, because when I do think back I see a lot of things that were really good and fun in there, alongside the usual plot holes we’ve come to known and just accept as part of the show. But the feeling remains the same, it wasn’t as exciting and thrilling as it could have been, or as I thought it would have been.
