The new MacGyver…

(S01E01) Ok so I’ll be honest with you, when I watched the pilot of this new show, I didn’t know anything about it but its title, Burn Notice, and that’s it. So I went into it completely open-minded, just hoping to enjoy the hour I was gonna spend watching it.

Burn NoticeAn I have to say, it started pretty good. Sure, a spy getting abandoned by his people, finding himself on its own, alone the bad guys who now wants to kill him isn’t very new. But, it was well made, there was a good photo, good acting, and the use of the voice-over was actually an interesting touch on how the story was being told.

But then, the show slowly turned into what it will eventually be. So our spy got himself some PI work to do, using his old relations and knowledge to be successful in everything he’s starting, with never one thing that fails or go wrong.

Right now, it’s starting to be a bit more cliché, doesn’t it?

It will only gets worst. Because what could have been interesting is fading away, as you see that he won’t be a spy going all over the world, but just yet another spy staying in Miami.
It get worst in so many ways by the end of the episode, not only did I hated the show already but I wanted to punch my TV in the face for such a lame time. Read the review of “The new MacGyver…” »

In need of a new identity

(S01E02) So reading my review of its pilot, it looks like I hated Burn Notice. And I did. Yet I still did watched the second episode, of course.

Burn NoticeI did so for a couple of reasons. First of all, never judge a book by its cover, or a TV show by its pilot. Great pilots can lead to shitty shows, just like awful pilots can be introduce awesome shows.
Also, I absolutely hate it when networks remove a show after a couple of episodes, no matter what reason they use trying to justify such non-sense. And in the same way, I don’t like to “reject‿ a new show after only a couple of episodes, unless of course I can see from the first minutes of the pilot it’s not a show for me. But that’s another story.

So here we are, for a new dose of Burn Notice. And before going further, I need to clear something up. Remember a few lines ago, when I said I hated the show. Total lie, I absolutely not hate it. I just really don’t like it.

There are shows that I hate (Heroes), that I wouldn’t mind would they announce they wouldn’t renew them for another season (Heroes), but Burn Notice ain’t one of them. Yet. Read the review of “In need of a new identity” »

Hope for Burn Notice?

Burn Notice(S01E03) If you’ve followed my reviews of the pilot and second episode of Burn Notice, you know I really don’t like the show. It’s not my fault, I mean, after all it is poorly written.

Yet I kept watching, again, for this new episode. Because I don’t feel liking giving up too soon, who knows, things could actually improve and as they go with a few episodes writers & cast members could get their mark on and adjust things to make the show better than it was only a few weeks before.

And see, maybe that wasn’t just wishful thinking after all, because this episode wasn’t as bad as the previous ones. With this third episode, things got less bad!

Burn Notice: Old Friends

Burn Notice(S01E04) I have never been quit enthusiastic about Burn Notice, maybe even the opposite. Despite all that, after last episode I felt better than I usually do, like it was the lesser of all episodes so far.

The way I feel about the show changed again apparently, and I am not so sure it is in favor of the show. Usually, watching the show I felt that there was some good things, some very bad things, and a bunch of things you can put up with if you’re not too regarding.
This time, things were different. Not good different, though.
