(S02E01) You can say what you want about the Emmy, I sure did, but there’s a reason - or a logical explanation - that 30 Rock did take the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series home. The show really is funny, and while I believe there are funnier shows out there it is without a doubt right on the top of the list, and it sure is a real pleasure to be amongst the dozens of dozens of viewers.
So yeah, needless to say I was pretty excited to see the season premiere, especially when you knew that was guest starring no other than NBC hero and comedy genius Jerry Seinfeld.

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | October 14, 2007
(S02E02) Not all sitcoms of the NBC Thursday night have lost themselves. Sure, this one did not had his format changed and dragged for a second half hour. Regardless, 30 Rock was always a nice show providing a light, funny half-hour during which you could forget all about your day and simply enjoy its lovely craziness.
Luckily, nothing’s changed so far this season. Well, that’s not true, there’s been a few changes on the show, but the overall feeling about it is still as good as ever.

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | October 21, 2007
It’s like a tradition, every week-end I try to clean my DVR of most of the shows I couldn’t watch during the week. I’ll confess that there’s a few new series I still haven’t given a try, some returning ones I’m also recording and recording only, and I still have not watched everything I have to watch. On my list is the last episode of Supernatural for example, which I still haven’t got a chance to see.
But let’s talk about what’s done, the good and the bad, and it includes 30 Rock, Criminal Minds, My Name Is Earl and I also - finally - get to talk about the most talk-about and adored by critic Pushing Daisies.

(S02E04) I think something it clear now, 30 Rock is one of the best sitcom there is. It’s great, fresh, hilarious, and each episode in filled with an incredible amount of great lines! Watch it, make your friends watch it, your family, anyone you walk by, because it really is pure gold.
I’m not saying it’s the best sitcom out there, I still love The Office, but this one has always been an half-hour long and never disappointed. It is must-see TV too!

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | November 9, 2007
(S02E05) Last week I started my review of 30 Rock by saying how much I loved this show, and how I was really encouraging everyone to get people to watch this show, because it really is worth it. And after an episode of The Office that was good, but not great, it’s with great pleasure that I went into 30 Rock hoping it would be, absolutely great.
Little did I know that it was in fact going to be so much more than I had expected. I’ve seen this episode, and given how things have been going so far this season I feel the need to correct something I said last week : I do believe this show is the funniest sitcom out there. Hands down.

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | November 16, 2007
(S02E06) So after I watched and loved so much the last episode of The Office, I was quite excited and curious to dive into a new half-hour of 30 Rock, because this show has been absolutely excellent and hilarious since day one, and they never hit any false note, unlike others.
Yet I felt it was going to be hard to top what The Office did, but I never intended to compare the two shows so no worries there. With that said, and I thrilled that we’ve still got a few more episodes of this one to come, because it really is the funniest sitcom out there. I love it.

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | November 30, 2007
(S02E07) So… there wasn’t much on this time, with the holidays coming and the strike going networks are trying to keep as many fresh content in the can as possible, which means a lot of shows switch to rerun mode. Thankfully tough, this wasn’t the case on NBC, and the comedy night was still fully on ! (Well, except for The Office of course, who’s sadly already out of new episodes.)
But we had a new episode of 30 Rock, and that was some great news because this show is the funniest sitcom on the air, I love it. I’ve read quite a few people mentioning how it was the “new” Arrested Development, in a way, and I have no take on that one because I honestly didn’t really watch that show.
Actually, I once watched a couple of episodes, but didn’t find it that good, or funny. Shocking to many, I’m sure, especially given how I love what seems to be, in fans’ hearts, its successor.

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | December 7, 2007
(S02E08) More and more shows are slowly disappearing from the air these days, and that’s not because of the holidays, sadly. But today we had a new episode of 30 Rock, and we should have still a few more left to come after that, and that truly is some pretty good news because this show is definitely the funniest sitcom around, methinks.
Once again we were treated with a great episode brilliantly mixing a couple of main plots and somehow finding a very natural way to involve every one in a great mix where it all felt natural, great, and so damned funny too, of course !

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | December 14, 2007
(S02E09) As I said yesterday, more and more shows are saying goodbye these days, as they leave the air for the year 2007, and no one knows exactly when, in 2008, they’ll come back. And 30 Rock was one of them, because this episode wasn’t just a Christmas special, it was also the last one to be completed before the strike. Obviously we’ll have to do without the craziness and hilarity from this show for quite a long time, even if the strike was over today, so things are going to be tough.
So how did you like your last dose of the year ? Was it as good as you could have expected it to be, were you disappointed or in fact pleased beyond your expectations ? I personally think this has been a tremendous season so far, so I want to keep happy memory of the show.

Shows: 30 Rock
In Series: 30 Rock Season 2
By fred | January 11, 2008
(S02E10) Um, okay, so remember last time when I said it was he last episode before the strike ? Well, I was wrong, obviously. By then rumors were that this episode, while written, hadn’t been completed/produced before the strike and wouldn’t be finished before things got resolved. Turns out that the only missing bit was wasn’t actually finished was the title.
Last episode’s title was already a “non-official” one, and this episode has no title at all. It seems that naming the episode usually was done at last, and was one of the very first thing that stopped once the strike kicked-in. I’m also wondering how much of this episode was done without the team of writers near by, ready to tweak things and adjust every word to make things perfect while shooting, as often is the case on sitcoms.
