Unlike last week CBS had its usual lineup this time, and it showed : 12.03 million viewers overnight, where the second net, NBC, couldn’t even get half of that (5.98 million). The Eye was also winner on the demo with a 3.2, while no one other net could even reach 2.0 but Fox (2.1) The key of success ? Criminal Minds!
Before that the comedies did well, very well in fact : New Adventures Of Old Christine had a season high with 8.25 million viewers (2.2 on the demo) while lead-out Gary Unmarried had one of its best performances with 8.03 million viewers and a 2.4 on the demo. Sadly on ABC it’s not the very little bump that will change anything, with only 4.96 million viewers (1.6 on the demo) for Pushing Daisies.

I usually love to trash the Emmys because whether you look at the winners of even the nominations, you just wonder if those people even watch TV. And it used to be that at least the Golden Globes got things a little better, right? Because then clearly this has changed, they got it all wrong, it’s almost insulting actually.
Unlike the Emmys, The Globes cover the calendar year, not the TV season, meaning that it includes the beginning of the year when there was not much TV going on, writers’ strike and all. But there was at least one thing on the air, and that thing was simply the best show of one of the greatest TV show, I of course am talking about Lost.

(S02E11) It’s something very special, this second season of Life. The show always was a mix of both a murder of the week investigation and the ongoing conspiracy behind Charlie’s imprisonment and the murders of his friends, but now we have to take into account how the show changed, not evolved, but changed, this new season. Because while it is still, of course, the same Charlie Crews and Dani Reese, they’re not really the same as they were last year.
Last week I talked about that, and about how Charlie wasn’t the same at all, to me, because if he still had his Zen - although be be fair, I feel like I need to ask, where is he hiding it? I’ve been missing it a lot lately… - it didn’t feel the same, because it had lost all of its meaning, and how it used to define Charlie nowadays, after his 12 years in prison.

(S04E10) Every time it’s the same, there’s a new case the whole team is called to work on. But after a few times where the episodes took a more character-centric tone, as we saw some Reid-centric episodes where he had to deal with some old nightmares of his and also maybe initiated a new romantic relationship, or how Rosi took things personally when a serial killer came after him, this week was more of a team effort.
This week, while there was still obviously one of the team for whom things hit closer to home than for others, everything went down quite more low-key than in the past, and in fact what got noticed wasn’t how someone was put up front, but how someone else was put in the back a little for the occasion.

(S02E09) Last week we had some unusual pairings going on, and that was all for the best as we had what might have been the best episode of the season, if not series. This week while going back to a more common types of pairings, we still had different stories involving different players, and leaving some whom otherwise wouldn’t usually work together to do so for the occasion.
And much like last time, it worked all for the best, as this was once more a very good episode. An episode which had of course it’s new murder of the week, and as always we had Emerson and Ned to go and have a little “chat” with the dead victim, because that’s how all investigations start for Emerson Cod.

I assume you all know by now, that NBC has decided not to let Leno go once he leaves The Tonight Show, but to keep him around doing the same unfunny jokes, only a bit earlier. I keep reading about how “NBC thew in the towel” or “gave up” on that slot, but don’t you people see why this only makes sense ? This is the future of television, because you have to remember : we’re living a crisis right now.
You can’t go on and pretend that you’ll live long and make plans for the future, thinking long-tern has been overdone, and that’s exactly why we’re in this mess to being with! Wait? isn’t it the… yeah whatever! Times are tough people, and with difficult times come cheap solutions. Maybe you don’t see it because you’re not the “visionary” minds like Zucker & Silverman are (or because you’re actually watching TV, you fool!) but that isn’t giving up, but making sense.

Even with a night of rerun CBS can do very well, better than any other network in fact. Yes, another night of rerun that won the night for The Eye, with 12.10 million viewers. Of course, Fox was the big winner on the demo, thanks to the great Dr House!
At 8.00 we had the most-watched program of the night, and that was indeed a rerun, of NCIS - 14.11 million viewers and a 2.7 on the demo. Of course, while having less viewers (13.91 million) House was the big winner on the demo, with a very nice 5.6

(S02E07) Remember how in the past I’ve praised this show for its constant evolution - and improvement - episodes after episodes ? It’s always been something very special on this show, things never really stayed the same, in more than one way. But lately I’m starting to wonder if this might not actually be the cause of his demise, and where the show is stating to lose itself.
Because if it’s one thing to always have things in motion, and never simply redo the same old formula applied to each and every episodes, it’s also something else completely to take what the show once was, and turn it into something entirely different. Now, I’m not saying this is what happened here on Eli Stone, but it does feel like we’re heading that way.

(S05E11) For the last episode of House in 2008 we got the traditional Christmas episode, but the reality is that this episode was nothing like the usual. Oh sure, we had a new patient of the week of course, and as always many mind-games all over the place, House being the winner in the end. That’s just how it always goes, but this week things were also a bit different.
I didn’t like everything that took place during this episode, but I see this as truly great Christmas, I absolutely loved this episode and I feel it was one of the best ones we’ve had in a long time. It was just great, and filled with many little things that just made me happy. And the fun part is, in many ways this episode wasn’t like most of them are.
