Did you really like the last episode of How I Met Your Mother ? How could you not, it was just great ! So, are you a fan of this great and hilarious sitcom ? Ok, so I have some good news for you : creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have sent all fans of the show an open letter, talking about the show, how thankful they are for the support they get from the fans, the writers’ strike, and just in case they also reveal who the mother is ! Just kidding.
Go ahead, read it, it’s great, kind, and spoiler-free (or is it? No but really, it is) :
Hello HIMYM fans. Motherheads? Howsiers? What are you calling yourselves these days? So first things first, thank you for the incredible support you guys have given us over the years. We mean it. When you create a show, you never think you’re doing anything more than telling a funny story. But apparently we’ve created a community, and it seems to be a community of pretty decent people. It’s a community we’d probably want to have a beer with. Our fans seem cool and smart and funny, and it drives us to want to make the show better, to never let it stagnate, to always push ourselves to try something interesting and new. So thank you.
* Do you remember those days, when it was tough to make a decision about what to watch, what to record, because there was just so much on ? Too many great things, on the air, all at the same time, every hour of the night ! Aww… the good old days.
NBC won the night, and that’s all because of Deal Or No Deal. I’m sure they’re delighted by those results, but hopefully when it will be on the air every two hours seven day a week people will not watch it as much, hopefully.
So at 8.00 NBC came first, followed by the great How I Met Your Mother with 8.4 million viewers, which is just as good as usual, while again the show deserves to be watched more, it really is great. Then Charlie Brown helped ABC not to loose it all completely with 7.8 million viewers, their best result of the night. They still finished at the fourth place, though.
People at NBC are probably dancing around given how their stupid game grew by 1.7 million viewers and took the slot again at 9.00 The other show to go over the 10 million at that time was a repeat (Two And A Half Men - 11.7 million), so “yay” I guess. I personally only think it’s fair, but the fall continues for Samantha Who? tanking with a series low at 6.7 million viewers only. The way things are going, next time, Fox’s K-Ville - which went up by 1.3 million viewers since last week - will have more viewers than “the #1 new comedy” ! (Although Samantha does much better on the 18-49 demo, 2.8 vs 1.5)
Big Shots is apparently some kind of new series that airs on ABC after Grey’s Anatomy. Okay, sure, if you say so. Well, a show that used to come on after Grey, because ABC pulled it out and will replace it with Grey’s very own spin-off, Private Practice. Something you’d thought they have done from the start, but they didn’t.
They still have a few more episodes left, three of them to be exact, and there’s that whole strike thing going on, so I’m gonna assume that fans of the show shouldn’t worry too much, chances are those three episodes will find their back back on the air next year…
Here’s another funny thing that comes out of this messy situation, and once again such creativity doesn’t come from the ugly side, go figure. So, there you go :
The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, AMPTP, has it official website at http://www.amptp.org but someone just bought http://www.amptp.com and turned it into some hilarious spoof of the AMPTP’s official site. It looks much like the original, down to the unoriginal logo, and it’s filled with lots of hilarious things. Here’s a few of them, to give you an idea :
It’s not really surprising, given how big networks like NBC had already pulled out weeks ago, but the Television Critics Association winter press tour has now been officially canceled. I guess it only made sense, I mean what is there to talk about anyways ? Deal Or No Deal ? Or Deal Or No Deal ? Maybe a special Deal Or No Deal With The Stars ?
(S01E11) Well well… first things first. I realized there might have been has been some mix up in the past. This was episode 11, and there are now still two more episodes to come. Episode 12 will air on Monday, December 17 at 10.00 (regular timeslot) while the very last episode, episode 13, will air two days later, Wednesday, December 19 at 10.00 This episode will be the season finale, and while still unofficial it also seem more than likely than it will be the series finale too.
So as we’re getting closer and closer to the end, I think if there’s something undeniable and obvious after this episode that can be said, it’s that there is some quality on this show. Many shows don’t bother and have shallow or stereotypical characters, but that’s definitely not the case here, here every character is a complex and complicated one, for better and for worse.
(S03E11) Well, you all know what the golden rule is, don’t you ? Yep, that’s right : no good deed goes unpunished. And as sure as it goes, I did love very much my Platinum rule, but unfortunately I’m afraid it didn’t came free. Alas, this was the last episode of How I Met Your Mother CBS still had in store for us, due to the writers’ strike, and there shall be no more this year. About next year, nothing can be said at this point…
But at least we got one thing to comfort us, a little : it did end on a high note. This show has always been a really great - and hilarious - sitcom and I’ve loved it for years now, but there also was something special about it, something that made it different and unlike any other sitcoms out there, and that’s not just because they have Barney Stinson.
* Not every series have disappeared, despite the strike and the holiday season. For instance, there’s nothing really good but ABC has a pretty full night.
* CBS has a couple of new episodes as well, starting with a new How I Met Your Mother at 8.00 !
* At 9.00 there’s nothing, pretty much. Maybe I should give Samantha Who? a new try, but I probably won’t…
* At 10.00 NBC has their only new episode of the night, and back in its slot is the return of Journeyman ! Don’t miss it, it’s almost finished.
Oh My God! I’m not sure I really like that video, maybe it’s the way it’s done - which may not really translate what the show was actually like - or maybe it’s just that stupid voice they gave the nuts, I don’t know.
But it’s good to see that apparently CBS intend to actually promote the show, something they didn’t do back during the first season - hence why it didn’t performed so good and ended up canceled.
We all know how that turned out, and so here we are, with a new season. Well, only seven episodes, but that’s better than nothing I guess. Of course they might also be promoting it because with the writers’ strike going on, Jericho might soon be the only source of new episodes for CBS… I’m sure they already wish they had ordered more.
Anyways, here’s Jericho in a nutshell (got it?) :
Don’t miss the return of Jericho February 12th at 9.00, on CBS.
