Wednesday’s Numbers [12.17.2008]

Not a lot of people at 8.00 watching TV, and if the CBS comedies won the slot in viewers they were actually down and got beaten on the demo by NBC’s Muppets Christmas, bringing The Eye down overall on the night. But the net was still a clear winner, with 11.92 million viewers while NBC, second in line, only had 6.52 million.
At 8.00 New Adventures Of Old Christine couldn’t do better than 7.47 million viewers (-800 000) and only 2.0 on the demo, and while down as well lead-out Gary Unmarried actually gained viewers from its lead-in (7.55 million viewers, -600 000) as well as improving on the demo (2.3) as always. On NBC the Muppets Christmas had 7.44 million viewers but a 2.4 on the demo, making it winner of the slot there.
Things aren’t looking good for Pushing Daisies at all, with 4.82 million viewers (-200 000) and 1.6 on the demo. At this point, it’s almost as if we were to be happy ABC does air all remaining episodes… what a shame this is what television looks like.
Speaking of, despite its greatness Life did not benefit one but from a stronger lead-in, and went actually down to 5.19 million viewers (-250 000) and 1.7 on the demo. Meanwhile, Criminal Minds didn’t mimic its lead-in and its action-packed episode was up 300 000 viewers, with 15.01 million viewers and a 4.0 on the demo!
On ABC, Private Practice was also going up with 6.65 million viewers (+100 000) and 2.3 on the demo. That led into a new Dirty Sexy Money rather stable (slightly down) with 5.18 million viewers and 1.7 on the demo.
CSI: New-York didn’t make much use of its lead-in improvement, stable from one week ago with 13.26 million viewers and 3.6 on the demo. On NBC, Law & Order was down below the 7 million mark again, with 6.95 million viewers (-500 000) and a 1.9 on the demo.
