Wednesday’s Numbers [11.26.2008]
By fred | November 27, 2008
As usual only one network could get over 10 million viewers last night (11.28 million viewers for CBS) while others couldn’t reach 8 million (second being ABC with only 7.44 million) Still Fox managed to do well on the demo, thanks to an always strong Bones. But about everything was down…
Bones was down about 1 million viewers last night (9.76 million vs 10.73 million viewers one week ago) but remained strong (and with a second half-hour gaining viewers, always a good sign) and won the slot, both in total viewers and on the demo. That was for the good, the bad was on ABC where a new Pushing Daisies really didn’t perform well, hitting a new series low with only 4.45 million viewers and a 1.2 on the demo !
Even worse, the second half-hour was down 800 000 viewers, only 4.05 million viewers and 1.1 on the demo. To give you an idea, those numbers would look bad even on NBC!
Meanwhile on CBS it’s not as strong on the Monday lineup but the comedy night does work. New Adventures Of Old Christine was still down half a million viewers (7.60 million) while Gary Unmarried continues to do improve from its lead-in, with 7.72 million viewers (-400 000 over last week) and 2.2 on the demo. On NBC Rosie Live didn’t really do well, barely beating Pushing Daisies with 5.04 million viewers and 1.2 on the demo.
At 9.00 CBS had the most-watched program on the night with Criminal Minds, still down (-2.4 million) with 14.03 million viewers and 3.4 on the demo. Things were particularly bad on the Alphabet where Private Practice dived to a series low with 6.22 million viewers and only 1.8 on the demo ! Ouch, Fox did as well with a rerun of House (and 1.4 million less viewers).
At 10.00 CSI: New-York had lost 1.8 million viewers since last week, but with 12.16 million viewers and 3.1 it was the winner of the slot both in viewers and on the demo. Barbara Walters did well with 11.65 million viewers and a 3.0 on the demo, basically saving the night for ABC, while Law & Order was down 1.3 million viewers to a new series low, merely 6.26 million viewers and 1.7 on the demo — really not what NBC was looking expecting.
