Wednesday’s Numbers [11.19.2008]

A night all for CBS last night, this making it quite depressing for all TVoholics out there I would imagine. Not everything was bad, for instance Bones continues to do very well, clear winner of the slot with 10.73 million viewers and a 3.1 on the demo. Meanwhile the CBS comedies are doing rather well as well, New Adventures Of Old Christine with 8.09 million viewers and a 2.5 on the demo - a new season high - leading in a new series high for Gary Unmarried, doing even better with 8.14 million viewers and a 2.7 on the demo.
As for the news we were all waiting for, it looks really bad. Pushing Daisies might have had one of its best episode to date, it was also an awful series low with not even 5 million viewers !! Only 4.86 million and a 1.8 on the demo, all signs that indicates the show won’t be picked up unfortunately. Knight Rider on NBC managed to somehow get more viewers (5.12 million, series low) but was unsurprisingly beaten on the demo (1.5 vs 1.8) where it came last.
Because, yes, Pushing Daisies was also beaten, on the demo, by The CW’s America’s Next Top Model, scoring a very nice 2.3 with 4.80 million viewers, this close to beating ABC dramedy. Adding to this how the show actually went down from 5.21 million to 4.51 million viewers from its first to second half hour, you can consider the cancellation a done-deal.
At 9.00 we’re on a different planet with Criminal Minds and their 16.38 million viewers (4.3 on the demo), a new season high. On ABC Private Practice took a hit as well, surely the low lead-in didn’t help, and a new low with only 7.14 million viewers and a 2.4 on the demo. On NBC, Life was sadly down as well (-500 000) with 5.32 million viewers and only a 1.7 on the demo. Not good.
At 10.00 CSI: New-York didn’t do as good as one might think it should have, considering it was the 100th episode and had such a string lead-in. But with 14.00 million viewers and a 3.8 on the demo, no one will be complaining. Law & Order hit a new series low with 7.58 million viewers and 2.2 on the demo, still beating Dirty Sexy Money which also hit a new series low, only getting 5.63 million viewers and a 1.8 on the demo.
