Wednesday’s Numbers [09.24.2008]
By fred | September 25, 2008
Note that due to President Bush’s 15-minute address to the nation at 9.00 all individual program results are approximate and subject to change.
Good night for CBS last night, winner both in total viewers (12.48 million) and on the demo (3.5), thanks to the return of their cop-drama Criminal Minds and CSI: New-York, which both did very well, the later being the most-watched program of the night on the demo, the former being a very close second.
At 8.00 Bones was pretty stable (9.61 million viewers, 3.1 on the demo), barely loosing viewers compared to last week despite being opposed to Dancing With The Stars (15.57 million viewers). Meanwhile on NBC was the series premiere of Knight Rider, and the curiosity effect isn’t really there anymore after that bad movie back in February (which had 12.7 million viewers at the time), so many people didn’t bother, rightly so. Only 7.30 million viewers for a series premiere is a pretty bad result, and the 2.4 on the demo isn’t any more encouraging.
No more lead-in for New Adventures Of Old Christine, and things got quite more difficult. It didn’t do so well with 6.70 million and 2.1 on the demo. After that come the series premiere of Gary Unmarried, which actually managed to grew from its lead-in with 6.84 million viewers and a 6.84 on the demo. None of that looks any good…
But things got much better for The Eye after wards, with the return of Criminal Minds at 9.00 followed by 15.12 million viewers and a 4.2 on the demo - over 2 million more viewers than last season’s premiere.
On Fox, Til Death was down to 4.63 million viewers, and the show even producers know & admit is crap - Do Not Disturb - was even lower with only 3.53 million viewers and a 1.4 on the demo. Really, how can it still be on the air ? How did it get there in the first place ??
At 10.00 CBS was still having a great time, CSI: New-York opening its season with 15.55 million viewers and no less than a 4.3 on the demo ! NBC on the other hand was in a different situation, Lipstick Jungle looser all the way with 6.08 million viewers only (2.3 on the demo), one million less viewers than last season’s finale. Retention from America’s Got Talent (10.24 million viewers, 2.7) isn’t really good either.
