Tuesday’s Numbers

American Idol was on last night, and as always that was enough to make Fox winner of the night, both in total viewers and on the demo. Fox was really ahead of everyone, and while CBS managed to averaged over 10 million viewers, Fox still had 7.6 million more viewers. Not to mention the demo, where ABC and CBS and NBC all together don’t even beat Fox and their 7.1 !

At 8.00 you know where 24.4 million people had their eyes on, while NCIS did about the same as last week, holding 14.6 million viewers and a 3.0 on the demo. Other than that, nothing really worth talking about…

One hour later Idol was over and Dancing With The Stars showed up on ABC, winning the slot with 16.7 million viewers, about 800 000 less than a week ago. Hell’s Kitchen performed better with 12.3 million viewers, and won the demo for the hour, while CBS can be happy that finally Big Brother is over. Instead they had a relocated Shark, which had 10.3 million viewers and a 2.2 on the demo.

It’s better than the reality crap from last week (6.7 million), there’s no question, although it did better on the demo (2.4). Also The Unit used to perform better on that slot. Granted, NCIS performed better as well, not having Idol to compete with, but The Unit still had a tough slot facing Dancing and House, and managed to stay around 3.0 on the demo. So of the two, it’s Shark that should get canceled.

Let’s also mention Reaper, which had another fantastic episode, followed by 2.5 million viewers. That’s pretty much what Gossip Girl does, only with major OMFG promotion campaign. Creatively Reaper has been pretty amazing, everyone trying to say it “did not live up to the expectations of the pilot” is either an idiot or hasn’t been watching (lately), or both, and with almost a million more viewers than its lead-in Reaper clearly isn’t in bad shape.

At 10.00 CBS had a rerun of their number 1 drama, CSI. I thought their dramas did well on reruns, but not so much this time as the show was dead last with 7.6 million viewers, after Law & Order: SVU with 12.1 million viewers, and a new Women’s Murder Club on ABC followed by 8.1 million viewers. Still, the rerun of CSI managed to beat WMC on the demo (2.0 vs 1.9)
