Tuesday’s Numbers [11.11.2008]

Great night for CBS last night! The network was clearly the winner of the night, getting close to 16 million viewers overnight (15.8 million), and while beaten by the strong duo House/Fringe on the demo, The Eye still did quite well (especially before 10.00)
Things started all the better with the most-watched program of the night, NCIS, pulling 18.79 million viewers (4.0 on the demo), no less than a new series-high !! Way to start the night, but that didn’t impress the good cranky doctor of Fox, as House might have been down 300 000 viewers, it still was up on the demo scoring a very nice 5.5 — best performance of the night on the demo.
Meanwhile on The CW, a new 90210 was taking a hit and for the first time going below 3 million viewers (2.73 million, 1.4 on the demo). That obviously didn’t help it’s lead-out, Privileged, heading back below the 2 million bar with 1.87 million viewers and, worse, only a 0.9 on the demo!
On CBS on the other hand The Mentalist used its lead-in boost and did the same, set a new series high with 16.46 million viewers and 3.9 on the demo, making it the winner of the slot, beating even Dancing With The Stars on ABC (16.39 million viewers, 3.6 on the demo). Of course both were beaten on the demo by Fringe, which despite a series low with only 8.88 million viewers managed to score a 4.0 on the demo.
At 10.00 the boosting effect wore off for Without A Trace, as the show retained “only” 12.21 million viewers and a 2.8 as on the demo. Law & Order: SVU on NBC had 2.8 million less viewers, but as always won the slot on the demo back with a 3.7
Finally, Eli Stone sadly continued to loose viewers, down to 7.44 million viewers this week (-300 000), though at least it remained stable on the demo (2.0) Still a pretty awful retention, 45% in viewers and 56% on the demo. Looks like unfortunately there won’t be a third season for Eli…
