Thursday’s Numbers

Alright, so I kinda forgot about the numbers of Thursday - oops, sorry! - but they’re out and there’s stuff to talk about. As usual, we’re skipping the whole first part of the night, on to what was happening at 10.00, including the always “fight” between CBS’ Swingtown and NBC’s Fear Itself.
Ever since their series premiere, the numbers have been bigger for Swingtown, usually called winner for the night while Fear Itself got the looser title. And I’ve also always had a somewhat different interpretation, feeling that Fear Itself was actually doing “better”, starting with the fact that it had managed to reduce its loss of viewers week after week and get stable on the demo, whereas Swingtown kept loosing and loosing viewers endlessly.
And this week it shows so even more clearly, as Fear Itself was the winner, gaining viewers since one week ago, while CBS drama kept loosing more and more viewers.
As you can see below, with 1 million less viewers than last week, Swingtown lost more than ever both in viewers and on the demo, falling all the way down to a 1.4 For this first time ever, Fear Itself performed better than Swingtown, both in viewers (4.735 vs 4.660 M) as well as on the demo (1.5 vs 1.4) In fact, if Hopkins on ABC was last on the demo (1.2), is performed slightly better than Swingtown (4.705 M)
June 5th
Swingtown : 8.6 M (2.8)
Fear Itself : 5.2 M (2.0)
June 12th
Swingtown : 7.3 M (2.3) -16% (-18%)
Fear Itself : 4.9 M (1.5) -6% (-25%)
June 19th
Swingtown : 6.1 M (2.1) -16% (-9%)
Fear Itself : 4.7 M (1.5) -4% (=)
June 26th
Swingtown : 5.7 M (1.9) -7% (-10%)
Fear Itself : 4.5 M (1.5) -4% (=)
July 3rd
Swingtown : 4.7 M (1.4) -21% (-36%)
Fear Itself : 4.7 M (1.5) +4% (=)
Finally Fear Itself stated to win back some viewers while still remaining stable on the demo, while Swingtown is still unable to even loose less viewers, quite the opposite in fact as the show is now loosing viewers more rapidly than ever before.
It’s not all great for NBC’s anthology though, as the show lost half a million viewers between his first and second half hour. In fact, on the last half-hour only, Fear Itself was actually last with a little more than 100 000 viewers less than Swingtown, and both shows shared the first place on the demo. Which only makes sense, given how the episode sucked, really, much like all of the series so far pretty much, sadly.
