Thursday’s Numbers

Any idea who might have won last night ? Given how ABC had two season finale, including the one from its hit-drama Grey’s Anatomy, while there wasn’t much else on, it’s no surprise to see ABC a clear winner, both in viewers - close to 15 million viewers while no other network reached 9 million - and on the demo - 5.5 while the closest was Fox’s 3.4
At 8.00 ABC wasn’t the most-watched network though, as Deal Or No Deal on NBC had 1.5 million more viewers than Ugly Betty’s 8.8 million. Ugly Betty did better on the demo though (2.8 vs 2.5), but wasn’t first either as on Fox the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance had a 3.4 (and 8.6 million viewers).
At 9.00 of course Grey’s Anatomy took the lead, with 16.6 million viewers and 6.3 on the demo. Good stuff, better than last week, although 1.4 million more viewers while there was no new CSI (or anything really) isn’t that great. At least the show’s audience never stopped growing over the two hours, the second-hour reaching 19.1 million viewers and 7.5 on the demo.
That’s still way less than last year : this season finale averaged 17.8 million viewers, close to 5 million less than one year ago with 22.6 million. Even the last half-hour didn’t reach 20 million this time, with “only” 19.4 million viewers.
What else about last night, NBC had the season premiere of their Last Comic Standing, and it didn’t do very well. While the last half-hour of Deal Or No Deal had 11.7 million viewers, its lead-out only managed to keep 5.9 million of them around ! That’s about half of them going away…
