Thursday’s Numbers
By fred | April 18, 2008
One of the last Thursday nights of its kind last night, since next week ABC will be back in the game, with little things like Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy or Lost back on the air !! But last night no such luck, and the Alphabet was last, unless you count The CW of course. CBS might have had a bunch of reruns, but that and Survivor was enough to win the night, while NBC and its comedy night were winner on the demo.
At 8.00 Survivor was the most-watched program of the night, and the only one to go over 10 million viewers (12.1 million). Other than that, My Name Is Earl lost some viewers since last week, which is a bad thing cause this was probably the best episode since the strike is over. Meanwhile I think I personally loved last week episode more, but this week 30 Rock gained 700 000 viewers and even did better than its lead-in on the demo (2.8 vs 2.6) So, good news for Tina Fey.
Smallville was back and did about as last time with 3.5 million viewers.
At 9.00 the most-watched program of the hour was a rerun (CSI, 10.7 million), but The Office was coming even closer to the 10 million viewers (9.8 million), beating Don’t Forget The Lyrics on Fox with 300 000 less viewers, and of course Jim & Pam talking marriage was a winner on the demo, with a shinning 4.9
Half an hour later Scrubs was also doing quite better than a week ago, with 700 000 more viewers.
Things get a lot less fun at 10.00, when Eli Stone was having its season finale. CBS rerun was first in total viewers, and E.R. took the demo. As for Eli Stone, well, with 6.1 million viewers and a 2.0 on the demo, he was dead last on both ! That’s not so good. And sure, 6.1 million is better than last week, but not by that much, we’re really nowhere near the 9.2 million of Sunday’s post-Desperate Housewives strike, nor near what the show did after new episodes of Lost.
It’s not really good. I have yet to watch the episode, but rumor has it ABC loves the show, so despite not so good numbers there might still be hope it won’t be the last we see of Eli…
