Thursday’s Numbers

So… another night with American Idol on, another night won by Fox, both in total viewers as well as on the demo. That said, this was not just a usual night, because while Idol was on, it was not the most-watched program of the night. Not by much, but at 9.00 CSI had 300 000 more viewers than Idol one hour before. Still, Idol performed better on the demo (6.8 vs 5.7).
At 8.00 it’s no surprise to see Idol first and Survivor second. In other news, My Name Is Earl was followed by 7 million viewers, while half an hour later 30 Rock was way down, loosing 1.3 million viewers ! I don’t get it, I really don’t, because this show is simply hilarious. It really is, it’s great, it’s funny, and this episode was actually pretty good, while Earl on the other hand was only half-good…
Anyways, it’s not great numbers, but it’s not really bad numbers either for 30 Rock, which is used to getting around 6 million viewers and below 3.0 on the demo.
At 9.00 CSI was the most-watched program of the night, with 19.9 million viewers. While it “only” had 9.2 million viewers, The Office was also back on NBC and, as always, performed extremely well on the demo, with a shinny 4.8 In other words, with 116% more viewers than The Office, CSI only did 18% better on the demo. The Office is here to stay, and that’s a good thing. Last night’s episode was just awesome!
At 9.30 Scrubs was back as well, and did quite good with 6.6 million viewers and 34 on the demo, numbers also better than what it usually got before.
Finally an hour later, Without A Trace ruled with 14.6 million viewers, leaving any competition far behind. The closest was the new episode of E.R. with 7.6 million viewers, some pretty poor results for the medical drama, which yet got renewed for another season already, and it will be the last, promised.
As for Eli Stone, it did a little better than last week’s poor results, but with 5.9 million viewers and a quite low 1.9 on the demo, things aren’t looking too good for that second season…
