Thursday’s Numbers

Thursday isn’t usually a good night for Fox, but they can turn any night into a good one just by having American Idol on, as they did last night. As a direct result, Fox won the night both in total viewers and on the 18-49 demo. Easy as that.
With 23.2 million viewers, so almost twice as many viewers as Survivor had on CBS (12.6 million), Idol was leading things at 8.00 there’s no question.
One hour later the Alphabet took the lead thanks to Lost and its fantastic fourth season, which, after loosing some viewers after the pilot, seems to have apparently found its new base of 13.5 million viewers. Plus, I’m sure, plenty of DVRs running. Lost was also strong on the demo, and - if you forget about American Idol obviously - was the most watched program of the night, both in total viewers and on the demo.
Meanwhile on The CW for its “mid-season” finale, Supernatural was up in viewers, much deserved, and had again over 3 million of fans (3.2 million) enjoying this week’s episode.
One hour later on ABC Eli Stone lost about 200 000 viewers over last week, while Lipstick Jungle on NBC lost 300 000 of them. Not good. Both shows were crushed by a rerun of Without A Trace on CBS, up 2.5 million viewers since last week (12.1 million).
