Thursday’s Numbers [11.20.2008]
By fred | November 21, 2008
Typical Thursday night last night, CBS being the big winner, CSI the most-watched program and Grey’s Anatomy the best performing on the demo. What else is new?
At 8.00 My Name Is Earl was slightly down (-250 000) but in some deeply depressing news, Kath & Kim was up (+400 000) with 5.47 million viewers and a 2.3 on the demo. I don’t know, I don’t get it, I’d rather just pretend I didn’t know. Meanwhile on The CW it looks very impressive for Smallville (4.77 million viewers, 2.0 on the demo) but that’s all because football was aired in a couple of states, so expect final numbers to actually go down.
Same can be said for lead-out Supernatural and its 4.03 million viewers, 1.6 on the demo. Much like for its lead-in it would be (one of) the best performances of the season, but both shows could drop half a million to a million viewers in finals.
Meanwhile CSI was down (-500 000) but still dominating with 18.43 million viewers, while Grey’s Anatomy was up (+150 000) with 15.74 million viewers, and winning the demo with a 6.2 (5.9 a week ago) opposed to 5.0 for CSI (5.1 last week)
On NBC The Office was finally going up with 200 000 more viewers (8.40 million) and still performing well on the demo (4.3), while 30 Rock continues to lose viewers (-200 000, 7.29 million; 3.5 on the demo) but still performs much better than last season.
At 10.00 it’s the same as last week, with E.R. on NBC winning the demo for the slot with a 3.5 despite only 9.15 million viewers, beating Eleventh Hour and its 10.67 million viewers (-1 million) with a 2.8 on the demo. While winning the slot, retention for Eleventh Hour was only 57% in viewers and 56% on the demo, and dropped 1.12 million viewers (11.23 to 10.11 million) in the second half hour — not ideal.
On ABC, Life On Mars was hitting a new series low dropping below 8 million viewers for the first time, with 7.97 million viewers and 2.6 on the demo.
