Last night even is CSI was down and Grey’s Anatomy up, and even if ABC medical-hit did win the demo, CBS was the big winner of the night. The network came first on viewers (13.75 million) but also on the demo (4.0), mostly because Survivor did much better than ABC’s Ugly Betty (3.9 vs 2.7)
At 8.00 Ugly Betty was actually up and getting close again to 9 million viewers (8.95 million), even if we’re still way below last season’s result (11 million). Meanwhile on NBC finally some good news, as My Name Is Earl was up 400 000 viewers (6.62 million) and, some for unexplainable reason, Kath & Kim was also up, with 100 000 more viewers. Still, 5.57 million viewers and 2.4 (2.7 for Earl) isn’t really good, but then again neither is the show.
Good news for Clark’s fan though, as Smallville went to a new season high with 4.81 million viewers and 2.0 on the demo, beating Fox (4.41 million viewers for the rerun of Kitchen Nightmare).
At 9.00 it was as always, CSI winning in viewers (18.11 million vs 15.63 million) while Grey’s Anatomy took the demo (6.0 vs 5.1) Maybe more saying is that CSI was down half a million viewers, while Grey’s Anatomy was up as many viewers.
On NBC and despite a pretty awesome episode, The Office was down 900 000 viewers (8.35 million) but remains strong on the demo (4.2) That led into a new installment of 30 Rock, and of course there’s the Oprah effect I’m sure, but the fact and the matter is the show remained very strong, with a 96% retention out of its lead-in and 8.00 million viewers, 3.9 on the demo (93% retention). Maybe it’s Oprah, maybe next week it will be whoever guest it is, maybe that’ll continue that way every week, or maybe more & more people are starting to realize the show is really funny!
On The CW and benefiting from the boost of its lead-in, Supernatural also went up, with 200 000 more viewers than a week ago, 3.73 million viewers and a 1.6 on the demo.
At 10.00 despite not a great retention (61%) Eleventh Hour won the slot with 10.97 million viewers, but not on the demo. No, while E.R. was beaten by Life On Mars (8.64 million vs 8.92 million viewers) the medical drama was the winner on the demo (3.3), making NBC happy, and regretting it was coming to an end.
