Sunday’s Numbers

By fred | January 28, 2008

CBS came first in total viewers lats night, thanks to their movie The Russel Girl (12.7 million), but ABC rules the 18-49 demo with their crap.

At 8.00 Shark didn’t suffer much from its special timeslot, and a little more than 11 million people were watching the show probably for the last time this season. Sure, the show has done better, but the last episode also didn’t make it to 10 million so there’s that. Meanwhile the new episode of The Simpsons scored a pretty low 7.6 million viewers, which is a season low as well as pretty much what the rerun coming after did. Either that rerun was of a very special episode, or most Simpsons’ fans weren’t really aware that a new episode was on last night.

At 9.00 I’ll mention that rerun of Family Guy had actually a little more viewers than the new episode of The Simpsons one hour before. American Dad only had 6.1 million viewers, so in the end it was a bad night for Fox’s animation comedy night. Especially for the new episodes, the reruns did fine.

Finally at 10.00 CBS had almost twice as many viewers watching their movie as NBC had watching the Guinness World Records, but NBC performed much better on the 18-49 demo. ABC had a rerun of Brothers & Sisters which didn’t do as good as it looks, that number is bigger than it should due to Extreme Makeover. In fact, in the half hourly data we see then almost one million and a half viewers were gone for the second half of the rerun of ABC’s drama.

As always, all numbers of the night can be found below :
