Sunday’s Numbers

If there’s one thing for sure, it’s that Sundays aren’t what they used to. When it comes to TV, Sunday night was a big night, with many hits on and all networks pulling over the 10 million viewers overnight. Not anymore.
In fact, last night not one network could even average at 9 million viewers, and only one program could reach 10 million viewers (Cold Case, 11.8 million). Of course, we’re still on a post-strike world, where instead of new episodes of Desperate Housewives, Brother & Sisters, or even some Sunday Night Football, all that’s left on are reruns and imports from cable network.
As I said at 9.00 CBS had the most-watched program of the night with a new Cold Case, but on the demo Oprah performed better ; and, though loosing 1.7 million viewers afterwards, Here Come The Newlyweds remained the same on the demo, putting ABC winner of the night one the beloved demo.
Meanwhile NBC was airing Psych, the show we all know & love from sister USA Network, and it didn’t do too well with 4.0 million viewers (1.3 on the demo). We’re close to Quarterlife numbers here, and it’s a real shame because the show is good. Although I say that, but I really didn’t like the first season either, so I understand.
I do, and I’m grateful that USA isn’t NBC, and they could let the show grow into something better instead or canceling it before it had any chance.
