Sunday’s Numbers
By fred | March 17, 2008
There was a time Fox averaged over 10 million viewers on a Sunday night, but that wasn’t enough and only The CW has less viewers. Last night, Fox was down to 5.1 million viewers overnight, but the worries isn’t really for Fox only, because ABC may have won the night, it still wasn’t able to do better than 9.0 million viewers overnight !
I guess those morons now have their answers now, yes the writers’ strike can have an impact, yes many viewers will be driven away from the screens. 20 million of them aren’t watching TV on a Sunday night anymore, and who’s to say they will all be back once the reruns will be over ?
At 8.00 The CW had its comedy night, and it did terrible ! Everybody Hates Chris only had 1.1 million viewers, while Aliens In America couldn’t even reach the million viewers. Both show performed quite better on Mondays (even in rerun!), and that’s not gonna help Aliens In America be renewed.
At 9.00 Oprah only had 9.7 million fans, far less than the 11.8 million from last week, or the 15.6 from its premiere two weeks ago. Then, lost in the middle of all those reruns was Unhitched, and it didn’t do good to say the least with 4.4 million viewers only. It’s not Jezebel James numbers, but close. Which is too bad, because this show actually improved and this was probably the best episode so far, even though it wasn’t really great. But after a pilot not really on time, and a second episode really awful, what did you expect?
